Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion
My first thought was no, let's wait until we've approved something, but in retrospect the C3V hasn't approved anything yet, either, and I feel like we're doing good work and the approvals will come.
So I'm all for it. |

Just a write up to let people who may not browse the forums regularly know what's up here.
Oh and I ordered some Zombie Hulks so you guys better pass him.* *this is not to suggest you pass something that is not up to par. |

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion
Well we can go two ways with this.
Either an interview like we did with IAmBatman a few months ago. This is a much more personal approach, but won't focus on the project a whole lot. Or we could do a simple "What is SoV" write up like we did with Griffin. This isn't as personal, but will help clarify a lot on what you guys do here. Or we could come up with something else, but both of these have worked well in the past. |

(Which makes me want to add that it would be fun to see new BoV maps mentioned again. There have been a few passed with little fanfare. I'd love to see them mentioned. If you want a PM with more details, let me know and I'll send you one.) Anyhow, most of all, I agree with nyys. I'd like Killo to make the call. New? Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion
Good idea 1Mmirg, with Scape discontinued I think it's more important that ever to keep fresh content on the home page. Adding newly inducted BoV maps along with inducted SoV units will help in doing so.

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion
Chardar, gimmee a couple days to discuss this with my fellow judges, and I'll get back to you on it. It sounds like we're all pretty enthused.

Re: Soldiers of Valhalla - nominations and discussion
Honestly, when I first looked over Priscus' card, I was a little underwhelmed by what I (at the time) felt like was his Inspiration-Lite focus. However, he looked balanced, and brought the Gladiators a much-needed Special Attack, plus Filthy put together a fantastic nomination, so I decided to vote Yes to review him. I'm certainly glad that I did-he has proven to be an excellent addition to the Gladiator line-up. Two of the Steamrollers significant weaknesses have been numbers and lack of a Special Ability. Priscus helps address both those. With a cost 90 points less than Spartacus, a fourth squad of Capuans is now in reach for many more point totals. Altenatively, those points can be spent on another Gladiator Hero, or a ranged unit to entice your opponent to move within striking range of the Caps. Shield Pin is a thematic Special Attack with a very valuable, but not over-powered bonus. Taste of Freedom is Priscus' key selling point. Attack bonuses have always been highly regarded and highly priced in Heroscape. This one is one of the least expensive, but has the potential to affect many figures. It is severely limited, however, by only affecting Gladiators, and only functioning when all Order Markers are placed on Gladiatiors, including requiring one on Priscus. Interestingly, the tactical overlap of Priscus and Spartacus (what I liked least on first consideration of Priscus) resulted my favorite army: Spartacus, Priscus, Capuans x3. This army requires careful Order Marker juggling, since both heroes require them to function fully. This added a level of strategy to the Steamroller that is previously lacked, and 5+ attack Gladiators are a sight to behold, especially when they are facing a hero-heavy army. IN my opinion, Priscus' main weakness is that Taste of Freedom's limitations result in some default army builds, much as Spartacus' Gladiator Inspiration does, but fortunately Priscus' price allows room for more variety than Spartacus, is one wishes to build it in. In the end, Priscus adds flixability, complexity and a much needed Special Attack to an army that benefits from all those things. I vote YES to induct Priscus into the Soldiers of Valhalla. We are now on the front page, here. I'm led to believe that interviews with the other judges will be coming along soon.
Thanks Chardar and Truth. |

Not sure if I can nominate something from the Halls of Valhalla... but... I would really like to nominate this one: China Boy's Grut Witch Zaghok
