[Un-Official] The Zombies suck!!!

do you ever play senerios- like dnd style heroscape? zombies are scarry as anything when you get like six izumi to escort a wounded kelda (as in her wings are damaged) through a graveyard. i know that the point of this thread has nothing to do with senerios, so um, sorry for the off topic.

on topic, Q9 + railen + zombie squad x4 = 500 points. i just won a looser does the dishes game with that army aginst the krav, agent carr, slyvaris, airborne elite, marro warriors, and theracuses (spelling error? you know, the bus who came with braxas)

it was a one master set map with a big hill in the middle and the glyphs on the flats around the edges. turn one i lost initivite and the airborne droped and grenaded my clustered zombies, killing five. so i'm thinking a whole slew of words im not going to type at this point. after Q9 drops the airborne, i start scrambeling for glyphs while my opponets using the bus bird to get slyvarris on the hill. Q9 circles twords the zombies and glyphs with railen in tow, all the while taking shots from the elf. once i manage to pick off legol... er slyvaris the krav and marro start moving into range. since i've got the move +2 glyph, i have my zombies charge them (instead of having Q9 keep blasting) and things start looking up. Q9 and raylen both fall while my zombies refill thier ranks with the krav and marro. after that, agent car and thercules vrs my 10 zombies didn't last too long, and then i got to watch tv while not doing the dishes. that night at least, the zombies most surely did not suck.

but you had Q9 and railen to help them if you had 500pt5s of Zombies I bet you would be singing a different tune

granted 500points of zombies wouldn't do very well... but can you think of a 500 point army made up of nothing but one common squad that WOULD do very well?

I mean really MAYBE some of the ranged units but a huge swarm of nothing but melee squadies is NEVER going to be that good. It's not the zombies fault they can't use guns... or bows.

i just picked up 4 squads of zombies and i love them! they work extremely well especially on road pieces. they killed a squad of einar imperium, kozuke and tagawa samurai, empress kiova, the sacred band and kaemon awa! i didnt even have to mobilize my other troops

your lucky it wasn't me with that army. thats a very powerful match the emperest and einar imerium. and kaemon awa you just got lucky. not trying to start bashing you man but thats just hard to believe.you must know how to get good field possition or something.

haha im not saying i wasnt lucky i admit i was very lucky! the field was on the plain side due to lack of pieces and there was a road going from one side to the other and the field was more narrow. and the 2nd match my zombies got owned after taking out 2 imperium and the greeks and hurting kiova once

nice! good map for them my wife has yet to kill one character with them though but we do have a vast expantion of tiles so the board is never flat

haha ya the imperium were a problem with the double attck but with the road i was able to pull in the reinforcement zombies and then recover my 4 fallen allies

I would have given the Zombies the same ability as the airborne army from the first set, just slightly diffferent. They are kept off the board until they roll a # that would allow them to RISE up out of the ground, since their weaker I'd allow them to rise adjacent.

A guy at my local tournament totally won like 5 games with a Zombie army. He used Raelin, Q9, and Zombies. I don't know the exact point value (because we kept changing points/scenario). But he won, just totally wasted us...

Yeah, it was me. It was the zombiex4/Q9/Raelin/Marcu army, and it won last year's NHSD. I also won a couple games at a recent gameday with that army plus Marro Warriors. (I don't have a 5th squad, or else I would have played that in stead of the MW.)

I like how skeletor dismisses the strength of this army by saying, "but you had Q9 and railen to help them if you had 500pt5s (sic) of Zombies I bet you would be singing a different tune". Well, duh. Lots of strong figures stink without the right supporting figures. That doesn't mean zombies aren't an effective army.

At least it's a zombie thread being necro'ed...
