The Gate Keeper knows what's in an order marker The Gate Keeper knows what's in an order marker
Whats the difference between common and uncommon?

What's the difference between common and uncommon units. I thought it was uncommon was limited to a certain number in an army but last I checked I read uncommon wasnt limited at all. So what is the difference?

Good morning,

Each common unit only needs one card in your army. So if you have say 3 squads of Venoc vipers you have one card on which to put your order markers.

Each uncommon unit requires a card for each unit of that type. For instance if you have 3 hydras you must have 3 hydra cards, each corresponding to a specific hydra. OM's placed on a specific card may only activate that particular hydra.

Hope this helps,

Re: Whats the difference between common and uncommon?

EDIT: ninja'd!

The biggest difference is in how the cards/order markers/wounds are handled. With common squads you stack all identical cards on top of each other, such as two squads of nagrubs from SotM. Then, when you reveal an order marker on them to take a turn, you can move and attack with ANY 3 nagrubs you control on the board, which is where the common squads get their power.

With uncommon cards, you treat the army cards just like you would hero cards, in that each figure corresponds to each army card. So if you have 3 fen hydras, instead of putting one order marker on the stack of hydra cards and taking a turn with any hydra, you need to keep the hydra cards separate piles. So hydra card 1, with it's turn and order markers, go with fen hydra figure 1. Hydra card 2 goes with hydra figure 2, etc.

Also, as far as powers on cards referencing unique versus common, uncommons are always considered unique. (Though you can have more than one in your army, just keep the cards seperate for each figure).

Also, first post.

Re: Whats the difference between common and uncommon?

A simple way to remember which uncommon card goes to which corresponding figure it to put a sticker on the figures base and a matched color sticker on the figures army card. For example, OM 1 is on Fen Hydra, OM 2 is on Fen Hydra Red, OM 3 is on Fen Hydra Black, etc.

Re: Whats the difference between common and uncommon?

Because the question came up and I couldn't answer. So with common squads, you can move any 3/4 you control on the board per OM

Is it the same with common heroes?

Yes. With an Order Marker on, say, your one Fire Elemental card, you may take a turn with any Fire Elemental you control.

Yes. Like Common Squads, you only need one card for multiples of the same Common Hero. When you reveal an OM on a Common Hero card, you can choose any of that figure you control on the battlefield to take a turn with.

Edit: Too slow! 'd

Re: Whats the difference between common and uncommon?

Awesome. Thanks so much! Next question. When moving with common squads, can you move three on the card, and attack with other commons that you didn't move, or you can only attack with the ones you moved with?

You can only attack with the ones you moved with.

(Unless you're playing with Zombies!)
