I almost suggested dropping his defense to 3, but I don't know the character enough to have a strong opinion on the issue. ".... the Cambridge ladies do not care, above Cambridge if sometimes in its box of sky lavender and cornerless, the moon rattles like a fragment of angry candy" |

I also think the theme on powers is diminished by using the same exact mechanics to represent two totally different themes. If a power has a unique title, it deserves unique mechanics to fully represent it, IMO. If the mechanics are duplicating something else, it feels harder to justify the different theme. Now, I realize that the basic stats can and do represent all sorts of completely different effects (a ranged attack being anything from a bow to a heavy machine gun to a blast of magic to laser eye beams to a stretchy fist in the face), but the difference between regular stats and special powers is that the special powers are supposed to be special. Part of that, for me, is that each power name is something unique. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Same power text with the same power name & vice-versa is one of the things C3G is founded on.

Re: The Book of Cecil Stedman
Easy mod for this one! A Bad Samaritan figure for his body, and a Merlyn figure for the head. Paint the suit black, tie red (Or whatever color you feel like!), and his hair grey. Just add his signature face scar and you're done! |

Very nice. I'm putting him down on my "hire LP to make me one of these in the future" list.

Re: The Book of Cecil Stedman
Nice job on that mod! I'm glad to see that it's a fairly easy mod, looks like something I could do!

In short, I agree in theory, but making it a hard rule seems needlessly limiting. ".... the Cambridge ladies do not care, above Cambridge if sometimes in its box of sky lavender and cornerless, the moon rattles like a fragment of angry candy" |

Re: The Book of Cecil Stedman
Commander Rogers' thread was actually started first. I agree with the idea here that I don't really feel like Sage's and Rogers' powers are really mechanically different enough to have different names. I'd rather see them both be Master Tactician and have the same exact mechanics, or have something about Telepathic Tactician that makes it feel more "Telepathic." But what's done is done (at least until Sage is revisited).
Honestly, it's more something I feel we can (and should) aspire to, rather than a completely set rule. I think it almost always makes for better cards, and a better universe of cards, so I'm almost always going to want to do it. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Cecil Stedman
Well, I have to disagree there, as I think there are cases where simply changing the power name would be warranted and would make for better cards.

Fair enough. I respect your opinion and I think it's a valid aesthetic approach (even if I don't share it).

Re: The Book of Cecil Stedman
So what's the verdict, then, on his teleport power? I love the theme in the name and mechanics (Removing the OM's representing him paying a crap-ton of money to use it), but if we want the re-usability, I'll survive.
For the defense issue, is it alright if I test him at 4, and then if he's coming in over 200ish points, I drop him down? |
