General Flow:
R1: Supers advance quickly, with Kal and Jon taking out Sue before the round ends. Kal gets down to 1 life remaining.
R2: Lois’s initiative boost gives Super team the first turn. He hits Freeze Breath and takes out Reed. Jon takes a swipe from Thing to go after Johnny, but he whiffs his heat vision. OM 1 lost on Reed. Supes hits Freeze Breath again on Thing, and dealing 2 and 4 wounds takes him out. Johnny takes 2 swipes from Kal and Jon, but kills them both with Flame On. Kelex moves the marker remaining on Kal to Kara. Johnny does a hail Mary Supernova that puts 4 wounds on Kara and kills Lois. Kara, empowered by Kal, kills Johnny.
General thoughts: Interesting match overall. Kelex definitely helps this Kal play as a shark, just piling markers on for maximum effect. Initiative win was definitely a huge swing for the team, but the quick neutralize of Sue was definitely bad for the 4, even if Kal was in a rough spot pretty quickly. Even then, I think you could up his points to 400 and I’d still take him over the 400 point Kal pretty much every time.
Unit Summary:
R1 T2: Moves up, no damage on Thing with ranged attack, takes 2 from Thing
R1 T3: Avoids LEA from Thing to go after Sue, puts 3 on her, which allows Jon to finish her off with Heat Vision. Knocked down to 1 life left.
R2 T1: Rolls 17 on Freeze Breath, then does 2 then 4 wounds to Reed thanks to Lois.
R2 T2: Freeze Breath 15, 2 wounds then 4 on Thing from height.

General Flow:
R1: Clark’s range supplemented by Jimmy and Kon gets 2 wounds on Jessica, and then a full blast Heat Vision from Jon kills her when she rolls poorly.
R2: Cage and Daredevil go after Kon, but don’t do much. Shang tries to go after Lois, but Jimmy calls in Clark, who only takes 1 from the Martial Artist. Cage puts 1 on Krypto. Cage moving to high ground put him in sight range of Lois, so Clark risks a swipe from Shang to go after him (Krypto moves to block for Lois). A 3 skull roll is enough for Jon to barely take out Cage. Turn 3 now will be missed by Fighters. Clark puts 3 and 2 on Shang Chi. Jon rolls all skulls on normal attack, getting enough to take out Shang Chi (1 shield rolled)
R3: Daredevil puts 1 on Lois at range, Clark flies up and attacks him twice (Go the Distance saves him with 1 life left). Jon (backed by Kon and Jimmy) take out Daredevil. Iron fist puts 3 wounds on Clark. Iron Fist blocks the first attack from Clark, but a 7 skull roll by Clark is too much even for an Iron Fist on height.
General thoughts: Flood with Kryptonians worked darn well. Iron Fist couldn’t get space to heal Luke, and Krypto was enough of an annoyance it cost Luke the positioning away from Lois and he got offed.

R2 T1: Adds 3 extra dice with TLLAJFS. Only 1 wound on Cage with his defense power.

R3 T1: 3 wounds then 4 wounds on Daredevil. GTTD keeps him alive a bit.

Who won and how many wounds did they have? Superman Family wins. Clark with 4. Kon with 3, Krypto with 1, Lois with 1. Jimmy and Jon unwounded. Kelex and Robin chilling in the back, unused. Skrull not used.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: He’s a strong shark, and you can really punish opponents if you use him that way by getting some wounds on allies. Kon and Krypto are great for that, as one naturally blocks stuff, and Kon can be easy to get passing swipes on.

I find the Fan Four typically struggle against armies with fast fliers that hit hard just because they can usually take out Invisible Woman before Reed can lock them down, and an early death for Sue is usually game over for the Fan Four.

Summary: Pretty much a slaughter. My first time playing all of these designs, and I couldn’t get them to mesh together. Superman couldn’t make use of “Looks like a Job’s” friendly wounds, as MM died too quickly, and all of his Freeze Breath rolls missed. His inspiration helped boost GL’s attack, but the FF was playing to strong in this game for them to keep up.

Recap: Both teams move up. And a good 2do roll, Johnny and Ben both pummel Martian Manhunter, dealing 5 wounds. Superman flies over and hits Sue for 3 wounds. Johnny kills MM, and puts 3 wounds on Superman. Sue runs away, and Reed wraps up Superman. GL’s bullets hit Ben for a wound. Johnny uses Flame On and hits Superman again. Johnny hits Superman, but GL saves him with his X marker. Superman hits Reed for 2 wounds. Johnny finishes Superman with another Flame On roll. GL flies over to Sue and kills her, using Superman’s boost. Ben hits GL for 5 wounds right off the bat, triggering his X marker. GL hits Johnny hard, but Flame On still finishes him.



Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes): Reed with 2 wounds, Ben with 1 wound, Johnny with 4 wounds.

Summary: Eh, a bit of a blowout. Again, inexperience on my part. The JL didn’t have enough multi attacks or multiturns to keep up with the Titans’ numbers. Both Nightwing and Raven were a single wound away from death at one point, but the JL just couldn’t get the kills, and then Raven healed them both quite a bit. Freeze Breath gave him a good shot at Nightwing, but Bunker kept him hanging on by a thread. Job for Superman never managed any friendly boosts, as Hawkwoman died RIGHT before Supes got close. Inspiration obviously played a part, but both WW and Bats don’t enough enough tools on their own to handle Nightwing.

Recap: During round 2, WW uses a JL marker for the attack/defense boost. Hawkwoman charges Superboy, dealing two wounds and moving Superman closer. Starfire blasts Hawkwoman 3 times, dealing 1 wound, and taking 1 from Aerial Assault. Lobo attacks Hawkwoman, but she counters, and that wound allows him to Bastich Bash her for a wound, dropping her off of height. Nightwing misses his Escrima attacks. Hawkwoman hits Bunker for 2 wounds, moving Superman again. Starfire then finishes Hawkwoman before Superman gets a chance to utilize her wounds. Superman rushes Superboy, but completely misses. At the start of the next round Starfire blasts Superman for 2 wounds.Lobo bashes him off of height, and Nightwing misses. Superman hits Superboy for 2 wounds. Superman finally kills Superboy. Raven takes a wound from Starfire, and puts it on Superman. Superman then Freeze Breaths Nightwing and deals 3 wounds, with Bunker providing an auto shield! Superman Freezes Nightwing again, but he rolls the shield (Bunker still used a marker just in case). Starfire eventually finishes Superman. Raven takes 3 wounds from Nightwing to herself. WW hits Raven for a wound, and Starfire moves up, angered by Raven’s new wounds, but misses. A Titans Go turn deals 2 wounds to WW. Bats moves up and misses Starfire. Raven moves another wound to WW, and then Starfire easily finishes her. Bat manages to do literally nothing before Nightwing and Starfire completely destroy him.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY:
He's cool. Feels very "Superman." Definitely feels a bit overcosted to me, but again, I'm not great at army building in this faction. I think maybe a tick up in life would help, but he's definitely not a dud. The Inspiration helps drive his cost, but it's kind of difficult to tell exactly how much it does for a figure like this.


GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT:
I like him. He's fun to play and immediately feels like Superman, so he'll hit my table more often. My concerns should be taken with a grain of salt obviously, and I have no problem at all if others think he's worth it more.

Pretty big swing in momentum mid-game. The Kryptonians started out strong, taking out Cap fairly quickly. The Avengers battled back and started taking out the swarming/filler support pieces, then took out Superman to really tip the scales. Couple of botches and poor rolls on both sides, felt pretty even.

Spider-Man with 2/5 wounds. (3 life)

Close game. Spider-Man did well on his dodges in the end to help secure the victory, but up until then it felt like anyone's game. Once again the Kryptonians felt like a solid force for the first half of the game, but once the Fighters took him and Lois down, the rest of the team started to crumble. Cage's botch early on definitely didn't do the Fighters any favors early on into the match, and Daredevil got hit hard by Jon, but the Kryptonians had some botches to even it up.

Very close game that saw Thing forced to enter the start zone to get to Kelex, with only 1 life left. Had he just stayed away and Kelex been the one to leave the start zone, no doubt Thing would have taken it. But in those scenarios what are ya gonna do? lol Felt like an even game.

[Arkham]

After playing those armies first hand, I feel pretty good with him as-is. Likely leans 370 in JL builds, but 380-390(depending on the types of teams they're up against) in Superman Family builds, which I mostly attribute to their tremendous OM efficiency throughout all the support pieces, rather than Superman specifically. 380 feels like a solid landing point.

He's gone 5-8.
