This is the final 2014 End of Year Championship qualifying event.
Games are played using the online Heroscape interface. Links to how-to-play videos below:
Using an online voice chat utility, such as Skype or Google Hangouts, improves the playing experience considerably.
This season, each round will be a different format out of the four explained below. Each player will submit two 465 point armies with a maximum of 16 figures each for the event. VC is allowed, no Marvel. The armies may not share any figures. Standard 24-hex startzone restrictions apply.
Formats (will not necessarily be used in this order):
Claim the Flag
Spoiler Alert!
The maps will be: Cage Match (2 Treasures, Astrid, Thorian)
Before each game, there will be a dice-off, done by the tournament organizers. The winner of the dice-off chooses first army choice or second army choice.
Whoever has first army choice may choose any of the four armies (either of their two or either of their opponent's two). The other player may then choose from any of the other three armies.
The player who lost the dice-off then decides who places their (entire) army first.
Claim The Flag Rules
Each player begins the game with a treasure glyph of Brandar. When placing your army, you must place the treasure on the card of one of your unique heroes, or power-side-up on a space in your startzone.
If you end a turn with a figure on your opponent's glyph of Brandar, you win the game.
If your glyph of Brandar is destroyed, you lose the game.
Before each game, there will be a dice-off, done by the tournament organizers. The winner of the dice-off chooses first army choice or second army choice.
Whoever has first army choice may choose any of the four armies (either of their two or either of their opponent's two). The other player may then choose from any of the other three armies.
The player who lost the dice-off decides who places their (entire) army first.
Treasure Quest Rules
There will be five Treasure Glyphs on the map. The game ends immediately when the last glyph is revealed. Whoever is in possession of the most glyphs at that point wins. If it is tied, the game ends as soon as the tie is broken. Alternately, you can win by destroying all of your opponent's figures.
Before each game, there will be a dice-off, done by the tournament organizers. The winner of the dice-off chooses first army choice or second army choice.
If the dice-off winner chooses to pick second, then the player with the first army choice can choose any of the four armies. If the dice-off winner chooses first army choice, they must pick one of their opponent's armies (not one of their own).
After the first pick is made, the other player may then choose from any of the other three armies. Note: If you win the dice-off and want to pick your own army, you must defer first pick to your opponent.
The player who lost the dice-off decides who places their (entire) army first.
Escape Rules
For this scenario you cannot leave a figure from your army unplaced if it would fit in your startzone.
At the end of your turn, if you have a figure unengaged in your opponent's startzone, you may remove that figure from the game. That figure "escapes" the game.
You score points based on full card scoring of escaped heroes, and partial card scoring for escaped squads.
The game ends when one player has no figures left on the battlefield. The player with the most escaped points wins. If there is a tie for escaped points then the player who still has figures on the battlefield wins.
Clarification on order of end-of-turn effects - they are completed in this order:
Any card-related effects (returning control of Marcu, rolling for Thunder Step wounds, etc)
Deciding whether to Escape with any eligible figures
Before each game, there will be a dice-off, done by the tournament organizers. One player will be given the choice of choosing an army first or second, while the other player will have the choice of placing their army first or second.
Heat of Battle Rules
After both armies are chosen, the players will take turns placing a card's worth of figures on the map. Figures may not be placed on glyphs or adjacent to opponent's figures. When placing squads, each squad figure placed that turn must be within three clear sight spaces of all other squad figures placed that turn.
The player who places second automatically wins initiative in the first round.
The regular season will last four weeks, with one game each week. After the regular season ends there will be a single elimination bracket for the top finishers. The playoffs will reuse the four formats in random order.
Treasure Glyphs:
Spoiler Alert!
Pool:
Heroic Rune (Attack +1)
Brooch of Shielding (Disengage)
Giant Hunter Stone (+1 Attack/Defense against large/huge)
Ring of Protection (+3 defense, temporary)
Belt of Giant Strength (+2 melee attack, temporary)
Trap: Roll one unblockable attack die against every figure standing on or carrying a glyph.
Dice-off Equalizer note:
Spoiler Alert!
In order to better account for the different advantages given by winning the dice-off in the different formats, the Escape round's dice-off will only count half as much for the dice-off equalizer and the Heat of Battle round's diceoff will not count at all.
Event Details and Rules:
Spoiler Alert!
Power glyphs will be placed, power side up, on maps before the game begins.
Dice-off Equalizer - A check before each game to see the dice off win % for the tournament for each player will be made. If a player has a lower Dice off win % than his opponent, he will automatically win the dice off. Should the win % be tied, a dice off will be performed.
Time Controls
If, at the end of any turn, both of the following conditions are met:
One player has taken 30 minutes less game time than their opponent according to the app AND
At least 75 minutes of gameplay time has passed since the timestamp of the first set OMs,
Then the player who has taken less time than their opponent may end the game on time. The game will then go to partial card scoring.
Additionally, if one player has taken 60 minutes less game time than their opponent, the player who has taken less time than their opponent may claim a win on time, irrespective of the game situation.
The organizers reserve the right to nullify either of the time controls rules if we find that it is being abused or if we believe the time recorded on the app is incorrect.
Because of the time control rules, it is important to use the app's clocking features correctly.
Always press the "done" button when your turn is complete.
If you decide to move to a position where your opponent has the option of a leaving engagement attack or engagement strike, use the appropriate quick message button to tell them to make that roll.
If you have any out-of-turn movement (scatter, scurry, etc), press "done" when you are done with that movement.
If you decline an out-of-turn action (e.g. you don't want to attempt a leaving engagement attack on Krug, or you don't want to scatter), press "done" to decline the action.
Scheduling
Once a round is announced, you will have one week to complete your game. Please attempt to schedule a time to play your game with your opponent.
If after 72 hours (3 days) you have not been able to reach your opponent via PM, please fill out the missing opponent report to notify the organizers of the situation.
If you cannot come to an agreement with your opponent on a time to schedule the game during that week, then please fill out the scheduling conflict report.
If a game is not completed on time and the tournament organizers are not notified of an issue, both players will be given a loss.
The tournament organizers reserve the right to manually set the pairings involving players with a history of either failing to schedule their games, or not showing up for scheduled game times. Such players will also not be given the benefit of the doubt should scheduling conflicts arise.
Reporting Game Results (and dropping out)
The winner of the game must use the game result form to report results. (This will be linked once the tournament begins.)
If you do not want to continue in the tournament into the next round, please PM an organizer to let them know.
Etiquette for watching games
Only the tournament referees (awesomeunleashed, Bengi, dok, Filthy, Kinseth, Typhon, Xorlof) are authorized to make binding rulings. If no referee is present in a game, ask before offering your opinion.
Refer to this thread for the etiquette rules of the Online Heroscape tournaments.
Disputes
The tournament referees are awesomeunleashed, Bengi, dok, Filthy the Clown, Kinseth, Typhon2222, and Xorlof. These players may make rulings on in-game disputes (line of sight, figures fitting on a space, dice rolled too soon/too late, etc) in games where they are not playing. If there is a dispute and one of these players is online, they may issue an on-the-spot ruling. If you have a dispute you cannot resolve, and none of the referees are present, you may stop the game and PM the tournament referees for a ruling.
NOTE: if a ruling is made late in the week and there is not enough time to schedule completion of the game, the tournament referees may issue a forfeit loss to the player who was ruled against.

Reason: bracket and title
Woah, weird event, it's gonna be really cool !
I never played any of those format except a different type of capture the flag. I'm gonna submit armies, that's for sure !
Yes, VC means Valhalla Custom, which is a group of customs including both SoV and C3V. VC figures are the ''official unofficial'' figures of Heroscape.
