Shameless plug. Check out Session II here. Pandemic got the photo credit this year, but Heroscape has been a big part of it each year, and will be again this. (I'm thinking 'Scape, Pandemic and Summoner Wars as the games that'll get repeated consideration, along with a bunch of one-offers).

It depends on what stage you are in. In the earliest stages I've actually had the text for cards listed on a sheet of paper and used regular playing cards where 3 of clubs = card 16 in the list. No use wasting a ton of time for something still evolving. I found I would spend way too much time designing the look of a card and I would either change things so much that the layout no longer made sense or I'd fail to finish off the design thought. I have far more in the grave yard of ideas than actually followed through with.
Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

It depends on the game. Now I do things as digital as I can for as long as I can. I have created Vassal mods with very generic artwork just to get a feel. And I have used spreadsheets with macros that shuffle the cards and I can deal out how ever many I need.
Of course if you are out of design phase and you are truly playtesting with others then I've seen comments from others that I think would be a great idea...print black and white versions on regular paper and slip them in a card protector with a real card behind it to give it some rigidity. Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Man, if we could just get someone on Scapers to win the lottery, think of the game company we could start with all the great creative minds on here.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
