Re: Forum Conduct Please Read
I just had a PM that had some swears in it! I;m fine with that, but what is the rule For PM's! some of the younger members would be quite upset if some one called them an A******!
I know there isn't any swearing on the Forum, but I just want to know whats the rule about PM's! Thanks! Spread Positivity and the joys of gaming. |

Re: Forum Conduct Please Read
So I did some searching and couldn't find a more appropriate thread then this one to bring up a point that I wanted to mention; one that I frequently have to remind myself of when reading forums on the internet.
Please try to give someone the benefit of the doubt when criticizing their posts and delivering negative rep. Remember that this game is intended for ages Eight and up; Many of our members are just beginning their ascendancy towards mastery of the English language, and while a criticism of their poor English/grammar/attitude is probably good intentioned it has potential to do just as much damage as good if not phrased or toned carefully -- and as we've all experienced in school at some point not everyone is on the same page developmentally as others. So the fine line between a kid who's trying to do his best but gets ganged-up on for missed capitalization and a belligerent punk that's here because his usual Yahoo chat room is closed for remodeling is really almost impossible to read without perspective and knowledge of the posters age and intentions. To me the rigid and sometimes vaguely hostile approach to these infractions discourages some newcomers from posting for fear of reprisal or a wrist-slap. This was not directed towards any individual anymore then it was directed at myself, but more as a "please take a deep breath before clicking the 'Post Flaming Reply' button". I'll get off my soapbox now and go back to lurking, thanks. Rubio Nubio |
