Taeblewalker Scape In January
The New Year of 2019 will begin with some TWScape. With Kolakoski off in Jamaica for a long vacation (he's active onsite in such activities as participating in public customs forums) but Quizcode at the table with Sherman Davies and myself, TW will take his rotation turn next month with the following format: Generalscape This will be a 600 point free for all with each player using cards from a single Archkyrie General. Cards may be drawn from Classic Scape and C3V/SOV customs, including the five brand new unique heroes now on the Home Page--we're still waiting for their PDFs to become available for downloading. Our date so far is Wednesday Jan. 2. Other holiday gaming here this week My old Canadian gaming buddy just arrived here in NYC for his annual visit, during which we game our brains out! Two playher games we play will include Far East War and 878 Vikings. Multiplayer games planned include Memoir 44 Overlord Pacific: Peleliu Landings and Iwo Jima [/B] with the 5-8 players in the group that has been doing six Overlord scenarios over the last few months. In between we'll be playing two player games such as The Great War, Far East War, Memoir 44 Through Jungle and Desert, and etc. Last edited by chas; December 27th, 2018 at 05:50 PM. |

Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
The previous listing is in anticipation of our playing Taeblewalker Generalscape, with me taking for the first time ever a Valkrill Army! His is now a fully formed faction with its own Flagbearer, Dragon, and Kyrie (now 2). Although he only had four official army cards when the game ceased publication, thanks to the great work of C3V since then (our Sherman Davies and Taeblewalker are members, and I've put my oar in the water a few times as well).

Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
TaeblewalkerScape: Aquilla vs Valkrill
We had two absentee players at the last minute yesterday, so TW and I played three 2 Player games, and he won the first and third. I felt it was in general a tough army match up on that terrain, but the third game was close! TW discovered after Game 1 that his Water Elemental, which he used well in Game 1 to Water Tunnel all the way across the board and take out a Death Knight on the first turn, was over his army total, and so removed him for the next two games. We got to try out two of the brand new C3V customs now on the Home page. My Death Knights managed to chop down one large enemy in my start zone when powered up by Emperor Andask, but in general still did not do all that well, because the enemy dragon Quahon killed them a squad or more at a time! Brimstone did likewise take out a squad of Fyorlag Spiders once, so l learned that the way to use him is to dump lots of order markers on him at once to power him up. We both had heroes who were squad killers, so the squads had a very tough time! My Emperor Andask powered up a number of his allies and was very useful. The new Kyrie Azazel was very tough, and came back from the dead about once a game, once needing the +1 from the Emperor on the D20, getting a bare 18 needed for Rejected By Death (the C3G Thanos power), which was dramatic! TW used his pieces particularly well, although Kozil the new Owlbear failed most of his 'extra' power rolls to do me damage when batting clean up (is that any way to use a brand new figure)? Go Valkrill! I put together the list of his current units for future reference; you can see it posted on this thread as well. If I had had more points I would have put his Flagbearer in too-- Sherman Davies had brought over a few copies of his figure for us when he was first designed. The Ruins of Pine Tree Marsh by Rÿchean chosen for his game by TW made a nice simple board; we would have added a start zone or two for more players. I've told the players who couldn't make it that it would be very easy to put up again if they want to remuster another day for this scenario, using the armies they had prepped for the game. I don't even know which general they chose. Despite the name the map has no swamp or swamp water (perhaps it was made before that was available), or I could have considered the Valkrill unit Durgath Ravagers, the swampy sneaks! *** After Scaping, we had a nice Japanese dinner out, and then returned to play the brand new Kickstarted Kami Sama (Kolossal Games), which a pal left here so the rest of us could learn it when he's not around. I taught it to TW, and I'm now 3 for 3! So far I've seen seven of the twenty playable kami spirits on the table. This new game company is making a name for itself; I'll be getting their spectacular Kickstarted Mezo (Mayans) later this year! A big board minis game, it looks to be physically something like Rising Sun, but with very different game mechanisms. I hope Eric Lang uses a different theme for his own third myth trilogy game (after RS and Blood Rage). Last edited by chas; February 26th, 2019 at 04:03 AM. |

*Call Him Ishmel*
Our rarely seen Scaping buddy Ishmel is doing Grand Jury duty a block from my apartment for a whole month, and after visiting TW and me during our last Scape day, has been over to hang out a couple more times and also play his very first Commands & Colors series game (The Great War). Its great to hang out with this usually very busy pal once again! |

Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
SUPERHERO CARDS HIT 400; SUPERVILLAINS 414
Long time pals will recall that some years ago, when C3G was only a few years old, I spent one January on The Great Supers Card Hunt. This took me down the obscure site highways and byways (and dieways) of many independent custom card makers of Superhero and Villain cards from prolific designers such as C3G, A3N, GreyOwl, Sherman Davies (my local hero) Bagermaniac, and Drewmanchu, as well as more obscure folks who just did a few, and even my own low tech cards. As a result of dozens of hours hunting, comparing, judging, and printing, I amassed a huge collection of hard copy supers cards, some of which are no longer available online due to long broken links and etc. I have kept up with newer card appearances. You can see my lists and other things I've done in the Marvel Custom section. During the years we've done all kinds of supers games, from specific comic book stories such as Marvel's Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet or DC's Multicolor Lantern Corps to Golden Age WWII games, the C3G campaigns from their original rules books onsite, and many, many more themes. Some of these scenarios can be found upthread, in Custom Scenarios, or even old Kolakoski Blogs! Today, after adding a few new cards, I saw that my Superhero collection, which includes different versions of the same character, hit 400 different superheroes. Supervillains, which always trailed behind the Good Guys, finally surpassed them a bit, and just hit 414. Pow! Zap! To celebrate, my next NYCG4 game will be a limited draft choice of supers cards, including some of the wacky personages that have never hit the table, which I've collected more recently. Should be fun! There are so many, that a second and perhaps a third game will feature different cards to select! It will be exciting for me to pick them out from my lists, and find figures/proxies for them. Up, up, and away! Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
Well met!
My surprisingly 'Scapelovin' granddaughter Taleetha's birthday is on February15, and we'll be going to visit and play some 'Scape that weekend. As I will be bringing the 'Scape, I need to come up with a small map/scenario and some figures. I can't remember the last time I built a map from a VS plan, but I'm thinking that one of Flash_19's maps might work. We generally used a snake draft, heroes only, but maybe some form of Take 2 can be constructed. If my Hosting can be on 2/8, we could play a Take 2 tournament with medieval units only. Each of us brings two 250 point armies, and the pairs of players draft from the 4 armies, each player ending up with a combined army of 500 points. Joris, Take 2 was a GenCon event, and is currently popular on the tournament scene. The medieval limitation will help us come up with interesting figure combinations for Taleethascape. |

Well met!
I suggest Drudgery and Laur’s Peak, both by Flash_19, for maps at my Hosting. |
