The Book of Upside-down Man
The Book of Upside-down Man C3G DC PUBLIC EXCLUSIVE COLLECTION 36 SECRETS AND SHADOWS ![]() Comic PDF ![]() Mini PDF Mod Tutorial The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Marvel Heroclix Captain America Singles set. Its model number and name are #020 / Super-Adaptoid. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - The Upside-Down Man was formed when creation gave birth to Magic. The magic in its raw form eventually turned into a bright light that formed Hecate, the first magical being. As she was formed from the light, the Upside-Down Man was formed from the darkness, in the Other Place. Frightened by his presence, Hecate created a barrier to hide the Upside-Down Man away, not wanting her beautiful realm to be tainted by horror. - D.C. Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man
NAME = UPSIDE-DOWN MAN
SECRET IDENTITY = n/a SPECIES = OTHERKIND UNIQUENESS = EVENT HERO CLASS = TORMENTOR PERSONALITY = MALEVOLENT SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 13 MOVE = 6 RANGE = 1 ATTACK = 7 DEFENSE = 5 POINTS = 705 TRUE MAGIC You may draft and cast Spell Cards with Upside-Down Man as though he had the Magical Defense special power and any special powers, classes, or species listed on them. Upside-Down Man never receives wounds from spells he casts. Whenever a Spell Card would be removed from the game, you may shuffle it face down into his Upside-Down Deck. UPSIDE-DOWN CRUELTY Upside-Down Man is never attacked when leaving an engagement. While there are five or more Spell Cards in his Upside-Down Deck, whenever he passes over an enemy figure you may roll an unblockable attack die against the chosen figure. If you roll a skull, draw the top Spell Card from the Upside-Down Deck and add it to your army. LIVING MAGIC After Upside-Down Man casts a spell instead of attacking normally, he may immediately attack with his normal attack. FLYING Pre-Playtesting

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
Neat write up. I'm unfamiliar with the character. Looking forward to seeing where he goes. Are you shooting for a certain point value?
A little early editing on the SP, everything between name and size needs to be in all caps. |

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
Thanks!
For points, I was hoping for some input on that. The goal for play is to be able to draft him with a decent amount of spells and be a threat to the Justice League or Justice League Dark members. My initial thought is to make him around 700-800? I'll make those edits. |

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
Neat design! I like that he has such a focus on spells, and I think his powers will flow together nicely to make him quite the threat. Healing Energy should actually be kinda useful for him since he gets to attack after casting it. And Hellfire spells are of course quite useful here.
I believe his name should be "Upside-Down Man", that's what he calls himself in Justice League Dark at least. The wikis seem to be pretty inconsistent with his name, so it might differ from comic to comic. |

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
Really dig the spell reuse mechanics. I agree that healing energy is a big one to try out with that.
For the Cruelty power, to be clear, is the unblockable die meant to wound the figure he passes over as well as trigger whether a spell returns or not? I'm assuming that's the intent, but I could see it being read differently. For Living Magic, you probably want "after" instead of "if" for the first word, just to clarify timing. I'll run the calculator on this guy just to get a general estimate for you. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
An unblockable attack die means a wound is inflicted. If you do not want it to inflict a wound, you need to change the wording.

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
I'm assuming the intent is for it to wound. Mostly just doublechecking.

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
I got 705 on my first pass, so I'd probably start around there.

Yes, the intent is for the wound to be inflicted.
I'll update with pricing from the calculator and the timing for "after." |

Re: The Book of The Upsidedown Man - Design
705 looks like a Tormentor number. The 5 is not too much of a burden for a spell caster. Double spells will be pretty cool to see.
