It is none of the public’s business as to why a previous organizer was removed. C3G was implemented prior to this year. We will let you know whether VC is allowed for next year.

Re: the open play discussion (and only having one open play slot).

I'm all for the idea that new formats should have to be tried out in the open play slots to see if there's interest, seems super reasonable, but...there's no meaningful way to do that when there's only a single open play slot available.

I was thinking about trying to run a new format (that I came up with, hasn't been used at Gencon before to my knowledge) myself on one of the open play nights, but I don't see the possibility of getting more than 3-4 players even if lots of people like the idea, because there will also likely be a C3V format of some kind and/or a main event prep format running at the same time, in addition to any other formats I may not know about yet.

I guess I'm a bit unclear on how we're supposed to test out new formats with just a single open play slot? Say we've got 3 good ideas from different people and they all split members having 4-6 each, none of those then has enough 'interest' to ever be considered for the future (or even have the numbers to really run a full 'tournament' during that custom play slot).

Not trying to complain or anything, I guess I'm just surprised after there were 2 or 3 open play slots last year (don't remember which, just know I did at least 2).

Bare with me, I'm not a millennial and can't multi-quote.

I'm not going to go into any discussion further on why he is no longer a part of the committee. It's more of a private matter and I don't want to throw people under the proverbial bus. Feel free to read the statement I posted that you guys keep quoting from. However read as it is written, not as, and since this happened, then this happened.

I am more than happy to field any questions about customs 3 letters or not, but I would much rather do it in person. Please feel free to ask me at gen con.

Caps - You are correct. Open play is Thur night only.

Mr Perkins - For several years the 2nd open play slot had minimal numbers (less than 5) so to keep Gen Con happy we cut it. We have to meet specific numbers to "keep" gen con happy. There is a total of 26 maps (52 players). If we sell out this Open Play, I don't see why we wouldn't be forced to add another (next year of course).

IDs will be checked (other than people like Ken who look like they're 80). These powers are per player turn.
