Exactly why I love the Hancock movie. I've watched it at least 4 or 5 times. Once in theaters and 3 or 4 times on DVD (I own it).

Batman villains are great not for what they are in their own right, but because they each pull out different aspects of one of the greatest (if not the greatest) character's in comics. They each offer Batman a sounding board for a different part of his personality.
Joker challenges his sense of a fair and ordered universe with his randomness and love for death.
Two-Face challenges his sense of justice and thoughts that the system can enact it and that it can be enacted non-lethally. He tempts Batman to cross the lines of vigilantism he does not wish to cross.
Penguin challenges Batman's corporate self - his use of money and connections by offering a counter example of a rich, connected individual on the other side of the law.
Riddler challenges Batman's puzzle solving brain - his greatest detective side.
Ra's lets Batman show off his international secret agent side and challenges his devotion to fighting crime on the small scale with large scale clandestine rationalizations. He also challenges his orphan longing - his longing to have a family to belong to once more.
Scarecrow challenges the man who uses fear as a weapon to face his own greatest fears.
Catwoman tempts his creature of the night side, and his beastial sexuality.
I could go on and on, but these are just a few examples. His villains are great not for what they do on their own, but for what they bring out and showcase in Batman himself.

I loved the beginning, especially when he was flying drunk, but the whole second half of the movie just sucked. They tried to add too much plot and seriousness to something that didn't need it.

And it didn't make any sense at the end.
