Re: The Book of Doctor Strange (Avengers) (Breathing)
NAME = DOCTOR STRANGE
SECRET IDENTITY = STEPHEN STRANGE SPECIES = HUMAN UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = VISIONARY PERSONALITY = WISE SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 6 MOVE = 5 RANGE = 5 ATTACK = 5 DEFENSE = 5 POINTS = 320 ARCANE AVENGER At the start of the game, place a white Avenger Marker on the card of a friendly Unique Hero. When rolling for initiative, you may re-roll your initiative once. If you do and you: • roll lower, you must inflict a wound on a figure you control. • win initiative, choose up to 2 friendly Heroes with Avenger Markers on their cards. Remove 1 Wound Marker from each of their cards and you may place them on empty spaces adjacent to Doctor Strange. Placed figures do not take leaving engagement attacks. DIMENSION SHIFT 14 Instead of moving normally with Doctor Strange, you may roll the 20-sided die once for each figure within 5 spaces of Doctor Strange. If you roll 14 or higher, you may move the figure 1 space or move an Order Marker from its card to another Army Card that player controls. MAGICAL DEFENSE When Doctor Strange is attacked by an opponent's figure that does not have the Magical Defense special power, the most wounds Doctor Strange can take for this attack is one. Re: The Book of Doctor Strange (Avengers) (Breathing)
I don’t think he needs to be a Visionary and I don’t think it really fits the character. We planned for Illuminati to be Kings, Visionaries, and Sorcerers.

Re: The Book of Doctor Strange (Avengers) (Breathing)
REALLY dig where this design ended up though. It feels like a proper Illuminati Strange while also seeming like it’ll be cool to play in Avengers builds. I love that being able to move revealed OMs means he’ll be able to “mindwipe” Cap, just like in the comics.
There will be odd moments where you re-roll initiative and roll lower than your first roll, but still win overall, therefore triggering both effects. Is that intentional? |

Re: The Book of Doctor Strange (Avengers) (Breathing)
Yeah, intentional that you can get both positive and negative result. It’s designed to be a bit of dark dealings resulting in a gamble. There will be times where you may have already won initiative, but want to risk the re-roll to teleport in some allies. He can always attempt to heal off some damage dealt too, or throw the wound on Wolverine etc. Another fun trick is to have Iron Man not apply his initiative boost to the first roll, but then apply it to the re-roll thus upping your chance of rolling higher.
As for class, if Strange was the only reason for Sorcerer inclusion, may be nice to streamline to 2 class callouts with this one as a Visionary. The actual definition doesn’t seem that out of place on him, IMO: vi·sion·ar·y /ˈviZHəˌnerē/ Learn to pronounce adjective 1. (especially of a person) thinking about or planning the future with imagination or wisdom. "a visionary leader" Similar: inspired imaginative creative inventive insightful ingenious enterprising innovative perceptive intuitive far-sighted prescient discerning penetrating sharp shrewd wise clever talented gifted resourceful idealistic idealized utopian romantic quixotic impractical unrealistic unworkable unfeasible out of touch with reality fairy-tale fanciful dreamy ivory-towered theoretical hypothetical starry-eyed head-in-the-clouds 2. relating to or able to see visions in a dream or trance, or as a supernatural apparition. "a visionary experience" noun a person with original ideas about what the future will or could be like. "he is a visionary keen on policy-making" |

Re: The Book of Doctor Strange (Avengers) (Breathing)
If the Illuminati is 3 classes, it gives you kind of a cool hook to echo that with the Cabals;
-Norman’s Cabal (Masterminds, Rulers, Tricksters) -Namor’s Cabal (Geniuses(?), Rulers(?), Destroyers) The Cabals are definitely more minor compared to the Illuminati though, so Incould definitely see the argument that it’s not worth chasing after that. |

Re: The Book of Doctor Strange (Avengers) (Breathing)
There were a few others in there we could rope in, so if we consolidate a bit, you could pick something else instead of Sorcerer if the desire is to have 3. Scientist, for example?

Re: The Book of Doctor Strange (Avengers) (Breathing)
I think the big pull there would be Beast, who was a core member for most of the Hickman run. (As well as any Scientist versions of Tony and Reed, and more minor members like Yellowjacket and Doc Green/Hulk.) Could be worth it, but we would lose the direct mirror with the Osborn classes, so not sure it's more valuable than just staying at 2 classes. (And maybe having Avengers Beast be a Visionary?)

Re: The Book of Doctor Strange (Avengers) (Breathing)
Interesting. Just in case you were wondering, the price point and relative slowness of the healing here doesn't concern me at all. I like where this one is at.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
