Last Night's map(s)
Alright, I know, new guy, should go through the standard motions of meet-and-greet, but I had to tell you about our maps last night. I loved this idea.
My friend and I are designated map builders for our group. Symmetrical maps are right out. Last night, we built three individual maps ( a marshland, a mountain, and a forest with road and bridge) and placed Artifact glyphs on two opposite corners of each map and designated them "Stargates." In order to open a gate, you had to roll a 6 or higher, which lead to disaster for my friend, who consistently rolled a 3 or 4. Anyway, the gate stayed open for one full turn around the board, and then you could reopen it. Our game consisted of three 2-person teams, with each person having a 300 pt. army. I personally had 295 pts with Mimring, Krug and a Dumtef. It was fun, but who else has done stuff like this, with transports and all? Anyone? |

Pics would be great and welcome to the boards.
For those about to scape, we salute you. |

Seriously, though, there isn't really anything wrong with symettrical maps. They do add more gameplay and map-making options, thus adding to the versatility of the HS game system. As mentioned above, it would be cool to see some pics. Perhaps in later posts? Welcome to the site, by the way! .:: .H3X.™ | aka, PushesPixels :: SotW 31 ::. "An out of print game is not unplayable. Hey, no need to apologize. These guys just like to see what great maps other players make.
Welcome to the site. |

I don't have a problem with symmetrical maps, they're great if the game calls for it, but I've always liked playing with as much realism as possible, and no battlefield is symmetrical. Plus, we play alot of marshlands...
If we'd only had 2 more master sets we could've built the Falls of Rauros from Lord of the Rings. |

symmetrical maps are great to build if you want to get playing fast, because once you have one side done just mirror it. Assymetrical fields are more fun because they add me realism.
Can't wait to see some pics of your maps! |

I should clarify that, while one member of our group is very adamant about using programs to build maps, I prefer just setting down and building and seeing what works and what doesn't. We tried to build the falls of Rauros, incorporating small statues of the Argonath, but we were only 2 master sets short. I'm hoping to have pics of some of these maps very soon.

Cant wait for those pics to show. This looks like a pretty good map. How many master sets did you use for it?

We used 3 masters sets and 3 road sets. We're getting a lava set soon, and I guess the makers of Hersoscape have something against sending a tundra set to North Georgia, I haven't seen one yet.
