Global Warming?

I know Global Warming has been touched on in other threads, but I couldn't find one that was dedicated to it.

Here are a couple of articles I recently found regarding Global Warming.

Article 1
Article 2

It's the overall ramifications that something like this can create that scares me. How can we trust our scientists when their funding is directly tied to a specific result?

Re: Global Warming?

Yeah, all those thousands of climate scientists are just making it all up - every single one of them is in the mix. I mean, it's just a coincidence that every single year this decade is in the top ten hottest years since we started recording temperatures.

It's just a coincidence that glaciers worldwide have declined for the past 18 years.

It's just a coincidence that the arctic ice is far thinner than we ever expected and is melting faster than the worst case scenario's offered only 12 years ago.

For some insight and context.

Re: Global Warming?

This isn't anything new to global warming--science will always find what it wants to find, and those who disagree will be shut down and silenced, ignored by their peers.

For instance, Professor Richard Lindzen, the leading meteorologist in the world, took 20 years gathering data on heat radiation leaving earth versus the amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. His recorded data doesn't match the theories that other scientists are proposing. Probably haven't heard of him, hm?

And yet by using the figures that the brilliant scientists give us on Global Warming, to lower the temperature around the planet by even one degree, it would require us to not burn any fossil fuels for 33 years. It's pointless.

First, he is not the leading meteorologist in the world.

He is however, a well known and respected one.

I love your

makes it seem like he is the only one with all the data.

You do know that the global mean temperature has gone up 0.4 degrees in the past 12 years right? He predicted that it would be plus or minus 0.2 degrees at most in 2004 and it keeps rising.

The evidence, recorded evidence, is that we have easily exceeded the worst predictions of even 12 years ago.

But of course, stuff like this isn't real evidence I guess...

EDIT: Another article describing how the evidence is actually worse than theories predicted.

Re: Global Warming?

Beware the devious cabal of scientists!

Scientists are lurking everywhere. Your neighbor could be a scientist. You don't think they all wear lab coats do you? Just when you least expect it, he may jump the fence, turn you into a hypothesis, submit you to an anonymous peer-review system, and then get you published in a widely respected journal!

It seems evident that those thousands of climate scientists have mislead you since the average surface temperature of Earth has been in steady decline since 2002. What about all those thousands of climate scientists who have been telling us that climate change is natural, normal, caused largely by the sun, and beyond human control?

Check out www.friendsofscience.org to add some balance to your perspective.

The Earth is Cooling

The graph above shows the temperature changes of the lower troposphere from the surface up to about 8 km as determined from the average of two analyses of satellite data. The UAH analysis is from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and the RSS analysis is from Remote Sensing Systems. The two analyses use different methods to adjust for factors such as orbital decay and inter-satellite difference. The best fit line from January 2002 indicates a declining trend. Surface temperature data is contaminated by the effects of urban development. The Sun's activity, which was increasing through most of the 20th century, has recently become quiet, causing a change of trend. The green line shows the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere, as measured at Mauna Loa, Hawaii. The ripple effect in the CO2 curve is due to the seasonal changes in biomass.

It's just a coincidence that the earth fluxes in temperature naturally. That's why have had ice ages and warm periods.

The Earth was warmer about 1000 years ago, and there was no human interference with that.

That plot is just a pure fabrication. We've been over this before. NONE of the many different efforts to reconstruct past temperature show that curve.

That's a cool plot there. It must have taken several cocktail napkins to make it look that good.

ETA: for those who actually care, the originating article. It actually was definitively warmer than the present day during the Cretaceous period. Grimnak like hot!

You do know that 2005 was the hottest year on record right?

And no, it hasn't been decreasing at all. 2001-2009 is the hottest decade we have on record.
