Re: The Book of Long Halloween - Design
NAME = HOLIDAY: LONG HALLOWEEN
POINTS = 80 STORY PROLOGUE = - A figure named Calendar Man and at least two other Unique Heroes that are Misfits must be in your army. - No other Holiday Story Card may be in your army. STORY SETUP = At the start of the game, place one orange Holiday Marker on this card, then choose two Unique Heroes in your army that are Misfits. Calendar Man cannot be chosen. Secretly write down each chosen Misfit's name. Each chosen Misfit is considered to be a Killer. STORY RULES = HOLIDAY KILLINGS Before placing Order Markers each round, if your Holiday Marker is on this card, you must place it on the Army Card of an opponent’s Unique Hero, if possible. Any figure with your Holiday Marker on its card subtracts 2 from its Defense number when attacked by a Misfit you control. If an unrevealed Killer you control attacks a figure with a Holiday Marker on its card and inflicts one or more wounds, you may reveal it as a Killer and inflict one additional wound on the defending figure. If a figure with your Holiday Marker on its card is destroyed, return that marker to this card. A MURDERER'S MIND While Calendar Man is on his Army Card and is not destroyed, you may only place Order Markers on the Army Cards of Calendar Man or Misfits you control. While you control one or more unrevealed Killers, you may not place Calendar Man on the battlefield. CASE CLOSED When a Misfit you control is destroyed, you must reveal if it was a Killer. When your last Killer is revealed, remove this card from the game. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Long Halloween - Design
Could the defense subtraction thing be limited to only working against Misfit attacks?
Idk, I feel like we've had a bit too many generic defense subtraction powers and I worry that could start to stack in weird ways. Not pointing fingers or anything, I've done my fair share of those too. And like.. thematically there doesn't seem to be a need/ want here for this to be juicing up Godzilla or whoever because you filled in some points with Misfits? Though I guess the OM restriction thing in the second power is an attempt at essentially making the defense subtraction Misfits only? But like, that just feels like it encourages people to cheese it. Like bringing in Hawkeye, or VDOs, or whatever. Or using this in a team game to boost your buddy's Superman, or just in a multiplayer game as political tool. Also you probably want "opponent's Unique Hero" for the marker placement thing? Or "Unique or Event" if you want to Holiday Kill Beyonder or whoever. But nuking the defense of every copy of a Common Hero in a dude's army seems a bit too swingy / I'm assuming thematically you want a single target and not a group. Missing an s. Seems interesting overall though.

Re: The Book of Long Halloween - Design
Yeah, I might honestly cut the OM bit of Murderer’s Mind and add a condition to the defense subtraction. Not sure that “you can’t place OMs here” powers don’t interact funky with thinns like Vulcan.

Re: The Book of Long Halloween - Design
Hawkeye needs an OM on his card to do his trick, but thematically I’m totally on board with restricting the marker to Unique Heroes and making it only work against Misfit attacks.
Edit: fair point on Vulcan (who is terrible). C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Long Halloween - Design
Hawkeye like powers then.
![]() I assume with Vulcan you just wouldn't have to move the markers to him with Power Mad. Just as general 'you can't do this' trumping 'you must do this' thing. Re: The Book of Long Halloween - Design
Hmm strong argument for keeping the OM language there on account of F Vulcan.
