Custom Rules for Multi-Based Figures
Some of the customs I've been working on and/or thinking about are large enough that they won't fit on a single double base (Galactus and Sentinels, for example). It's also not very feasible to create a single large base for the figure to be on like in 2-D miniature games because the 3-D Heroscape terrain makes it almost impossible to place them anywhere or to move them. Galactus would require something like a 5x5 base.
So what I was thinking is to use 2 bases, one on each foot. The way the rules would be modified to support this is to say that both bases do not have to be on the same level, with some restrictions. For every 20 height of the figure, the two bases can be one unit of height difference from each other. So a figure with a height of 20 can have each foot one height difference from each other. A figure with a height of 40 can have each foot two height difference from each other. When it comes to any calculation that requires knowing the elevation of the base, like for height advantages, you always use the lower one. Any comments or suggestions on this? |

Won't the tall figures fall over if they aren't resting on even ground?
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

The ones that are around 20 high, like Sentinels, do just fine leaning a bit. One tile elevation isn't too high. Galactus, who can have up to two elevation changes should be fine, too. The specific Galactus figure I have bends his knees so that can help. But even without that, I don't think he'd fall over. He'll just lean a little.

So, besides the uneven elevation thing, would there be any other rules to consider when moving figures on two bases like that? Would they be moving on two single bases or two double bases?

To go with IAmBatman, how would you determine momement. For double base you lead with one end and the other follows how would you do that in this situation.

It'd definitely get tricky when it came to things like water or special terrain that affects movement too. Not to mention you'd have to be dodging figures all the time - could you move so that a figure was (God, how to say this without it sounding wrong ...) between the giant figure's, er, feet? Like with one foot placed on each side of the figure?
Or is the giant figure going to end up headbutted in the nether regions? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

I'm just imagining some very strange versions of "engagement" here ...

I haven't worked it all out yet. But here's what I'm thinking. Whether each foot is a single or double base depends on the figure and what it fits on. For moving across water, I would think the same as double spaced figures. They only need to stop if all parts of all bases, are in the water. Engagement would mean that any part of either base is adjacent to a figure. I guess this means its possible for these giants to be engaged to a LOT of figures at once. I don't see a problem with another figure being between the feet of the giant, as long as it fits. But it wouldn't be engaged unless it is adjacent to one of the bases.

Sounds like you've got this pretty well thought out already! Keep up the good work.
I think what this thread really needs are some pictures of these two based giant figures to illustrate. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
