The Book of Rygarn

I had the opportunity to run RYGARN at the Portland Clash of the Generals event.

VYDAR Army:
Rygarn
Calibrax
Major Q-9
Krav Maga Agents
Otonashi


The flexibility to shift an OM during the round between Q-9 and/or Krav Maga was amazingly helpful. Also, by keeping Calibrax close by, I was hoping to be able to heal Q-9. This is a rare occurrence but with RYGARN, I could wait to see if that opportunity arose and then shift an OM over for a double-attack from Calibrax and a chance to heal.

RYGARN's base ranged attack and 'Temporal Jump' was very cool as well. His Move 4 made it a little challenging to keep him up with an advancing army but with Vydar Range - it was fine.

Great design and I look forward to testing him out in other Army builds.

Does anyone else see major applications for this guy? He adds so much to any build, esp. dual common builds (I'm looking at you rats and strong melee). He works with powerhouse heroes and I think he is... Appropriately undercosted (in the same way I think Raelin is, it adds tactical variety to the game and promotes strategy, altough it admittedly lowers diversity) to allow you fit him into armies he'd otherwise be too expensive for, but doesn't suffer the design flaw of Raelin by being able to be used by EVERY army imagianable.

Rygarns wording of his power, does he need clear sight? It just says pick a figure that is within 6 spaces of Rygarn.

No clear sight or line of sight is required. Do what the card says, not what it doesn't.

What about it? The "place to ignore wounds" part? It keeps him from dodging while Cyberclawed.

au is right. If you can't place Rygarn--Cyberclaw is one reason you wouldn't be able to, but there might be others (perhaps the only space within 4 spaces has a glyph on it)--you can't ignore the wounds.
