Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Thanks hahma. We did have tons of cover. I also warned everyone how crazy those rifles can be and to be scared and to get cover. The character with the rifle could also make the defender discard a cover die. Makes sense for the armored walkers getting the 2 red dice. Awesome. I think we played right then.

Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Yay! I finished the 2 leaders and 2 DLT -19 troopers and Vader. Core set of Imperials is complete. Took me awhile, but I got better with the white as I went. Next time I would prime all white, then paint black and other trim colors, then line edges with thinned strong tone (or similar wash effect), and then a couple coats of thinned white. Touch up where necessary of course. Though, I may try a different color scheme with the 2nd core set anyway.
The OSL (object source lighting) from Vader's lightsaber is pretty subtle, but shows up better in person. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Thanks
@Tornado
! It was a bit tricky, but it came out alright. Actually, for a primarily one color model, other than a few colored buttons on his panel and belt, as well as the lightsaber, there was a lot of time in doing a ton of highlighting all over the place. The cloak has a lot of shades of black and greys, and the rest of him does as well as some white. Trying to give the illusion of shine here and there. Took a couple hours.

It's weird that Vader and the Sandtrooper Officer are in the exact same pose.

Well, for all of the Legion infantry type bases so far, I had glued on some sand before priming the models. Then after the model is painted, I paint the top of the base a dark brown and then drybrush a reddish brown and a then again with a light color. Then I kind of randomly spread some PVA here and there on the base, but not all of it, and sprinkled on some Army Painter Battlefields Brown Battleground grit, but not fully covering the glue. Right after that, while the glue is still wet, I sprinkle on some Woodland Scenics Blended Turf, Earth Blend. Let it dry and then shake it off. I do this basing over a white piece of copier paper so that I can kind of fold it in half to gather excess basing material and pour it back where it needs to go. For the AT-RT, which I have only primed, I molded some greenstuff onto the base and then glued on some different type of grit before priming. For the Speeder Bikes, I had glued on some thin cork in a couple places and then did the rest of the process the same as I did the infantry bases. I then paint the outer edge of the base and then spray varnish them. I super glue the tufts on after the model is varnished so that the tuft doesn't get all wonky. Army Painter has other grit types and lots of types of tufts. Galeforce9 also has some grits and static grass. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
I took a break from painting my 1st core set of rebels from Legion over the past several days. I got my kickstarter for The Drowned Earth last Monday, and spent my hobby time Wed-Sunday (today), to assemble, base and prime the models.
They are made of white metal, and some have more parts than others, and some of the pieces were pretty small. I used some greenstuff/super glue combinations for some connections, and learned how to do some pinning on several connections and some of the basing as well. So it took a bit of time compared to some other projects. I had ordered a couple basing stamps with jungle themes. One has ferns and the other has vines and some big flowers. So that also took time greenstuff base stamping all 16 bases. I then glued on some different size grit here and there to add more depth, from sand to heavy grit. On a few, I added some other items that I will paint in a rusted metal look, as this is in the future after a big incident messed things up. I'll likely add some grass tufts here and there as well. The rulebook is 170 pages long, but 2/3 of it is lore. I haven't had time to read a whole lot of it, but from what I understand, the different creatures/races stem from some bioengineering stuff that humans did back in the day. There are still humans, but also several other races, and the world has dinosaurs too that you can add to your party. The first picture has the biggest models, 3 of them are on 50mm bases and the other is just really beefy for it's base size. These things are pretty darn huge, and the neat thing about the characters in this game, they are of several shapes and sizes and many cool poses. This guy is the first one I had based and primed as an experiment. He's the brother of the girl squatting down with the ponytail. I had to pin both ponytails to their heads, as I was afraid super glue wasn't going to be enough. Pre priming and before adding some extra stuff to the bases. It shows a little bit of the size differences. Components of the box. The minis are all in the burlap looking bag, and the wax seal was there to keep the drawstring from opening. Each of the 3 factions I got (the Artifacters, Bondsmen and Wayfarers) had their own bag in that big bag, and each model and it's parts came in its own bag. So it was easy to know what pieces went with who. Re: Frostgrave, Halo Ground Command and other tabletop minis
Ooh. It looks neat. Cant wait to hear about your playthrough when you get there. When you first started talking about this game I was still playing everything I owned on a grid. I just finished another crew of pirates painting. They are out drying with the varnish wash I gave them. I also am just about done with my gryffindor tower and have made some awesome rock out crop scatter for the tabletop. It still needs a little drybrush. Awesome stuff. I ended up passing on the zombicide invader ks. I am going to paint all my stuff and play it while not buying tons of new stuff I think. Still tons to do.
