Feels like it could use more markers.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

How I would do the markers:

- 8 on her card
- one "card" made of markers, for use in the X2 printer
- one full printer sheet of markers

You could do 5 single count markers, 1 5 count marker, 1 10 count marker, and 1 20 count marker.

When you add the 5th marker, you just swap it with a 5 count marker, which frees up all the single counts. Then when you hit 10, you swap for a 10. So on and so forth.

Do we really need more than that? Does anyone expect to go above 40 at once?

If you're going to do numbers, might as well do digits. 0-9 three times is 30 markers. (Technically, you'd only need 29 markers as you'd never need 3 zeroes.)

Arkham's approach gets my vote, only requires 8 markers in total and we have 8 spots open for markers if you don't print using the X-2 3 cards at once method.

You could also make a squirrel counter that has three columns 0-9 that you could mark.

As for going only to 40, the joke is that it goes to 999. Seems like to do the joke right, you need to go all the way and provide 999 markers.
