The C3G Book of Captain America
The Book of Captain America C3G MARVEL WAVE 6 AVENGERS ARRIVE Comic PDF Mini PDF The figure used for this unit is a Heroclix figure from the Armor Wars set. Its model number and name are #079-081 / Captain America. Its model number and name are #215 / John Walker. _________________________________________________________________ Character Bio - Steve Rogers was born July 4, 1917, in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City, to Irish immigrants Sarah and Joseph Rogers. "Disturbed by the rise of the Third Reich, Rogers attempts to enlist, only to be rejected due to being in poor shape. U.S. Army General Chester Phillips, looking for test subjects, offers Rogers the chance to serve his country by taking part in a top-secret defense project — Operation: Rebirth, which seeks to develop a means of creating physically superior soldiers. Rogers volunteers for the research and, after a rigorous selection process, is chosen as the first human test subject for the Super-Soldier serum (...)" The successful experience transforms Rogers into a "nearly perfect human being" and he takes on the identity of Captain America in World War II. In late April 1945, Captain America and his young partner, Bucky, fall victim to a mid-air explosion set off by the villainous Baron Zemo. "The young man is believed killed, and Rogers is hurled into the freezing waters of the North Atlantic. Neither body is found, and both are presumed dead. It is later revealed that neither character actually died (...) Years later, the superhero team the Avengers discovers Steve Rogers' body in the North Atlantic, the Captain's uniform under his soldier's fatigues and still carrying his shield. After he revives, they piece together that Rogers had been preserved in a block of ice since 1945, surviving in such a state only because of his enhancements from Operation Rebirth. The block had begun to melt after the Sub-Mariner, enraged that an Arctic Inuit tribe is worshiping the frozen figure, throws it into the ocean. Rogers accepts membership in the Avengers, and although long out of his time, his considerable combat experience makes him a valuable asset to the team. He quickly assumes leadership, and has typically returned to that position throughout the team's history," (wikipedia.com). _________________________________________________________________ -Rulings and Clarifications

Re: The Book of Captain America - Design
NAME = CAPTAIN AMERICA
SECRET IDENTITY = STEVE ROGERS SPECIES = HUMAN UNIQUENESS = UNIQUE HERO CLASS = SOLDIER PERSONALITY = PATRIOTIC SIZE/HEIGHT = MEDIUM 5 LIFE = 5 MOVE = 6 RANGE = 1 ATTACK = 6 DEFENSE = 5 POINTS = 240 AVENGERS ASSEMBLE At the start of the game, you may choose up to 5 other Unique Heroes you control and place a white Avenger Marker on each of their cards. While there is a revealed Order Marker on this card, any figure you control with an Avenger Marker on its card adds 1 extra die to its normal attack and 1 extra die to its defense when that figure is within clear sight of Captain America. SHIELD THROW SPECIAL ATTACK Range 5. Attack 4. When Captain America attacks with this special attack, he may attack 2 additional times. He cannot attack the same figure more than once. VIBRANIUM ALLOY SHIELD When defending against an attack, Captain America always adds one automatic shield to whatever is rolled. Original Post:

Re: The Book of Captain America - Design
How often are you going to pick more than 5 heroes for a game, though? The average C3G unique hero costs a little more than 216 points. So add in Cap and on average you're not hitting more than 5 unique heroes until you hit 1350 for point ranges. And then you're probably only looking at one "odd man out" you have to remember.
I suppose we could just make it all unique heroes, but I'd worry about power level and I'd worry about people playing him with a ton of puny low level uncommons to really milk his cost. I don't like the idea of people cheesing a ton of Moloids with this guy or anything ... (OK, bad example, since they're commons, but if we ever come out with any cheap uncommons). If people think that it wouldn't really affect his cost to just go all unique heroes, though, I'm OK making that change ... C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Captain America - Design
An alternate write up for the power could be:
AVENGERS ASSEMBLE If at least one numbered Order Marker is revealed on this card, all Unique Heroes you control add one to their Move number and add 1 extra attack die and defense die for the rest of the round. And I do like that ... it's cleaner. I'd like to keep him at 250 or under, though. I don't know, what do you guys think? C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Captain America - Design
What if you could choose 2-3 Hero per round to get the boost? That's not nearly as long to remember. Not sure all Unique Heroes is the way to go either.

Re: The Book of Captain America - Design
But it's more to remember, because I'm having to choose new heroes every round ... that really strikes me as more complexity, not less ... also, it seems thematically odd for him to choose new heroes to be Avengers with him every round ...

The one thing I'd be worried about is which heroes are getting the boost. Thor, Darkseid, Wolverine, Punisher to name a few could be really tough with there not being any restrictions on spaces, clear sight, etc. Is there a way you could limit it to certain species: Human, Mutate or Android? Would that cover all the Avenger species? Maybe not. |

Re: The Book of Captain America - Design
What if you only had to remember for one round, and this could show a bit more of an evolution to the official Cap (like we did with Hulk), and this gets the "assemble" aspect a bit more:
AVENGERS ASSEMBLE At the start of each round, before placing order markers, you may choose up to 5 Unique Heroes you control adjacent to Captain America and add 1 to their attack and defense numbers for the rest of the round. |

Re: The Book of Captain America - Design
My first thought was lets just use markers. But I think Zatanna shouldn't be a counter here.
Avengers Assemble If at least one numbered Order Marker is revealed on this card, all Unique Heroes you control within 5 clear sight spaces add one to their Move number and add 1 extra attack die and defense die for the rest of the round. This'll force him to get into the action and not turtle. |

How about ... since the "assemble" theme doesn't seem to be coming through, this tweak? AVENGER INSPIRATION If at least one numbered Order Marker is revealed on this card, all Unique Heroes you control within clear sight of Captain America add one to their Move number and add 1 extra attack die and defense die for the rest of the round. ? Re: The Book of Captain America - Design
I could totally get behind that as you don't have to remember which are the "chosen".

Re: The Book of Captain America - Design
Cool. Works for me. And you're really only powering up two heroes offensively during the round (though all of them defensively).
If it proves too deadly in gameplay, we'll look for ways to scale it back, but I'd like to at least try to open ended approach first. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
