Re: The Book of Deadpool (III) - Breathing
Quote:
I agree it should use control language instead of friendly language to avoid turn interruption during team games. It definitely could stack dangerously with some of the current Mutant army combos out there (like Prof X's double activation). The limited movement of the teleportation belt and the risk of shutting down your entire turn if you fail to inflict a wound seem like reasonable counterbalances, though. No VDO concerns here at least, as he can't use it to attack with a VDO or anything since those enemies wouldn't be adjacent to him. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of Deadpool (III) - Breathing
I figured having it be for friendly as well would be a fun team interaction for group games, cause if anyone is gonna scoot closer to turn interruption at least with friendlies, it's Deadpool. It could be fun, but it can be cut if that presents problems.
I also assumed "before taking a turn" got rid of opponent activations. A glaring thing is it should say numbered OM, as that was my intention, don't want him popping around on random X reveals. To lighten the "turn" concerns, it would definitely make sense to have it be unblockables. That could distance it from a normal turn, on top of him not getting to heal because he's not moving normally with this power either. Quote:

Re: The Book of Deadpool (III) - Breathing
Looking at Zombie Spidey's special, I think there is some precedent if worded right and the turn denial on failure is either removed or limited to Deadpool's player.

Re: The Book of Deadpool (III) - Breathing
Yea I like that direction more. I agree it kinda makes the healing power you have feel like an irrelevant downside. I'll throw out this power I had as the only think I liked for my Deadpool (II) draft from 6+ years ago:
REGENERATIN' DEGENERATE After taking a turn with Deadpool, you may remove 1 Wound Marker from this card. When Deadpool is destroyed, begin your next turn with a total of 5 Wound Markers on this card. Whenever a numbered Order Marker is revealed on a card you control, immediately remove 1 Wound Marker from this card. If the last Wound Marker is removed from this card while he is destroyed, immediately place Deadpool on an empty space adjacent to any figure you control. |

Re: The Book of Deadpool (III) - Breathing
If it worked like this he'd be doing this in competition with the Mercs and Mutants on anyone's team, but on your turns it is risking the turn.

Re: The Book of Deadpool (III) - Breathing
I like the current healing power more here. (Not knocking Tickle’s power, I just think the one here fits the rest of the design better.)
I’d definitely steer away from ending opponent turns, that’s pretty crazy powerful and would become the defining aspect of the design. What about this? Quote:

Re: The Book of Deadpool (III) - Breathing
That's a cool power, but it feels more like an Undead or Doomsday kinda healing, like character who dies and comes back later, where I think DP would be more just heal weirdly and randomly.
I like the idea of basically unblockables to heal for that kinda vibe, so I'd wanna keep that. Would he be OP if we just dropped the first line? Quote:

Re: The Book of Deadpool (III) - Breathing
Yeah, I think we were all posting around each other for a bit there.
![]() I wouldn’t tie his healing to revealing an OM on him. A more dedicated Merc Leader Cable and an Uncanny X-Force Leader Wolverine seem like reasonable things to expect one day, and if they had any sort of bonding power it would really hurt his pairing with them, as well as the recently released Silver Sable. Definitely like the first line of “Crap…” - That’s really what sells the power to me. That power and Merc With a Mouth are really singing, so I’d continue tinkering with the first power instead of trying to tweak those two to work with the first power. I could get behind a version that works on “Mercs and Mutants you control” and does the turn ending thing or something closer to my variation. Both definitely de-emphasize taking a turn with Deadpool, but maybe that’s okay? Like I said, I don’t think tweaking the latter two powers around “Me First!” is the solution. I also want to re-mention the option of just dropping the Teleport Belt and doing something closer to the take in the SP. Not an absolute solution, but I don’t think it’s worth tying ourselves in knots to make this be both a Teleport power and a bonding power. |

Re: The Book of Deadpool (III) - Breathing
Alright, I'm not going to touch the other two powers (and obviously I'm not bothering with the Mental Shield idea anymore).
I think it would work best to drop the bonding and focus on the teleporting, as Nobody just mentioned Cable and X-Force Wolverine are gonna bring that bonding in, so DP can focus on what he does best, annoying the crap out of people. Basically this has him engaging with enemy figs and getting them properly bothered. It doesn't screw with the stat reductions on his healing since it's never on his turn or replacing a potential DP turn, and he's not taking a turn. It also gets him nice and engaged already so if the opponent doesn't take lea or wisp away, he has that opportunity to give up his move next turn to heal, so it pairs with that power. (It's also a lot closer to the ZS power so there is further precedent.) Quote:

Leaving the bonding to those future designs makes sense.
Dig it! Looks fun. |

Re: The Book of Deadpool (III) - Breathing
I think the “Me First!” name doesn’t really make sense anymore when it triggers on an opponent’s turn.
I could actually see dropping the unblockable there? Being able to move around and passively deny enemy movement (with no LEAs) is pretty great. Like I could see the whole thing working something like this. Quote:
If you wanted to make it even more powerful, maybe it could be more like Avengers Wolvie and happen after the opponent moves. (So DP can block them off.) |
