Re: The Book of Daimon Hellstrom (DR Testing - Spells)

I'd recommend replacing Havok with maybe Angel and Zombie? Same points, gives N'Astirh a bonding buddy, and Angel can pull N'Astirh out of engagement (giving him more chances to use Ignition; he needs to be non-adjacent, remember). Really anything where you're playing against squads is likely to be good for Fire Line. I ran it against a Hand/Assassin build and it showed strong there. It also doesn't need LOS, which TB managed to exploit a bit. |

Re: The Book of Daimon Hellstrom (DR Testing - Spells)
I missed that aspect of Ignition - okay, going for it, though I'm not confident Zombie is strong enough.

Re: The Book of Daimon Hellstrom (DR Testing - Spells)
Zombie's no slouch. He gets up to 5 attack during his bonding turns, and he can deliver the odd autowound if the enemy tries to ignore him. Plus passive movement and his bonding (though it does have the downside of being glyph-dependent) works with anything. He's a pretty good throw-in for a lot of builds.

Re: The Book of Daimon Hellstrom (DR Testing - Spells)
Just realized you already have a similar setup to what I was just wanting for how Elemental Control spells were named and called out for Zatanna's special. Glad to see we're on the same page there, and it'll be good to have an established precedent for future designs.
I should be running these tonight. |

Just a wording thing, but should this:

Re: The Book of Daimon Hellstrom (DR Testing - Spells)
I doubt it would throw people, but it can safely be cut, yeah. We could also put in a line of sight requirement there like on Cyclops if we're worried about that aspect of the power.

Re: The Book of Daimon Hellstrom (DR Testing - Spells)
I doubt that would be a balance issue, and I like it without - feels more demonic when you can't cower behind a wall.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Refer to the games for the individual reactions and impressions on the spells post games. However, point wise, I feel Fire Line is 10-15, Fireball is 5-10, and Ignition 15 max. I like what each special attack offers. I like that they cater to different situations, but are all useful in most occasions. I could definitely see drafting one of each at the very least. The unblockable if you're not a demon, is a nice way to keep it balanced if others pick them up. Very interested in how Hellstrom is balanced with his ability to use 2 in 1 go, but it sounds fun. |

Re: The Book of Daimon Hellstrom (DR Testing - Spells)
Thanks, Arkham!
I'm thinking reducing Fire Line to 4 attack might be a good idea to keep it reasonable at 10 points. Curious for further impressions of Ignition. |

Re: The Book of Daimon Hellstrom (DR Testing - Spells)
Here's Test One for Ignition:
Name Of The Playtest Unit: Hellfire: Ignition Army Test 1 Map: Stygian Rift (no glyphs, molten lava ignored (fewer variables are better)) Armies: N’Astirth, Angel, Zombie, 2x Hellfire: Ignition (560 Points) vs. Ms. Marvel, Black Panther (550 points)
Spoiler Alert!

Re: The Book of Daimon Hellstrom (DR Testing - Spells)
Looking good. And yeah, you're a bit below average. Ignition averages 3 skulls, if you do the math out.
(EDIT: And it's the intuitive result, if you figure you average 2 skulls on your first roll and then 1 more on your second) |
