NAME OF THE TEST UNIT Phoenix

- THEME TEST/ Check to see if there are any powers or stats on the test unit card that does not accurately reflect the theme or likeness of what the character would and could do. Also consider destructible objects, and whether or not this characters powers should affect them.

- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes.
- What should be the unit's point value? 250 seems perfect, and I couldn't be happier with the balance levels.
- Give a brief overview. Phoenix is worth her cost on her own, and also with Jean Grey. Even though she gives Jean some extra value, Phoenix loses a bit of her own value when she appears, because it is likely that some lost orders will be on Jean Grey's card. I am really very happy with the theme and mechanics of this design so far.

TEST 1
Map: Custom.
Units: Phoenix - VS - Flash.
Flash mostly moved in to attack normally then ran away to high ground, but Phoenix worked on Psi blasting him back towards her when she could, dealing him potential damage and putting him at lower height. Phoenix blasted at him from same height most of the time though, and on occasion would wound him with Phoenix Fire which was a lot of fun.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Flash wins with 2 wounds.

Who won and how many wounds did they have? Phoenix wins with 3 wounds.

TEST 2
Map: Custom.
Units: Phoenix - VS - Psylock.
Psylock never had height advantage, and that was a factor, but she still relied on her normal attacks and martial arts. Phoenix rolled well for herself on Phoenix Fire and her attacks too. One interesting event occurred and it wasn't too complicated, thankfully. Phoenix attacked and Psylock countered it giving Phoenix a wound, then Phoenix triggered her Phoenix Fire which gave Psylock a wound. It was actually really cool and not complicated, as all the wording was tight to make the timing of everything clear. Then Psylock killed Phoenix in one game and Phoenix went out on fire and killed Psylock in the same turn.

TEST 3
Map: custom.
Units: Phoenix - VS - Iron Fist.
Hard fought battles on both sides. Iron Fist's healing helped keep him in the game long enough to get in wounds on Phoenix who had height advantage all game.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? No one wins as both died on Iron Fist's turn.

TEST 4
Map: custom.
Units: Phoenix and Jean Grey - VS - Thor.
Loads of fun and one heck of a fight. Jean Grey does get more value because of Phoenix, and I was worried that that may drive up Phoenix's cost, but then I found out something that I had overlooked as a nice little detriment to Phoenix: Order Markers. When Phoenix is waiting to appear at Jean's death, Jean is getting all of the Order Markers. So when Phoenix does show up, she has to wait till the next round to get any Order Markers unless you are brave enough to foresee Jean's death and give Phoenix an Order or two before Jean is killed.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Thor wins with 7 wounds.

Who won and how many wounds did they have? Phoenix wins with 2 wounds.

Who won and how many wounds did they have? Thor wins with 5 wounds after ending it with a Lightning strike from a non-adjacent position.

TEST 5
Map: Custom.
Units: Phoenix and Jean Grey - VS - Batman II (Batarangs, Batgrapple, Med Pack), Robin, and Alfred.
This is a very nasty vigilante army to go up against. Jean Grey was throwing Batman and Robin was getting "shot" at too, but Batman healed himself a wound. Then Jean put Batman back to 3 wounds, and Alfred took him out of the fight healing two wounds, then the other on Batman's next turn. Jean went after Alfred, and Batman and Robin rallied to protect him while also being healed by Alfred. Fortunately, Jean was able to burn them all a bit more wiht Phoenix Fire, and when Phoenix did show up, Alfred was easily killed. Batman and Robin really engaged Phoenix and "turned up the heat" as everyone was getting bloody, but Batman and Robin had the advantage. When Phoenix died, she took Robin with her and Batman survived by the skin of his cape.

- What should be the unit's point value? 250.
- Give a brief overview. Phoenix is very powerful in her stats and very fun to play with her Psionic Blast and Phoenix Fire, but her clear weakness is her life of 4.

Spoiler Alert!

Phoneix could only get the Lex Corps engaged with her when her Psionic Blast worked to pull them in, so the Corps avoided a lot of potential phoenix fire.

- Give a brief overview. A very close and fun game. Phoenix Fire is fun to use by either engaging the enemy or "throwing" them adjacent to Jean/Phoenix.

Units: Phoenix and Jean Grey - VS - Sinestro Corps Soldier x4.

Spoiler Alert!

When Jean Finally died, she took the second Sin Soldier with her, leaving two healthy and fully charged soldiers for Phoenix to contend with. Phoenix had a good fight on her hands too, and I thought she was going to loose it, but the last SCS whiffed his defense rolled after loosing his last shield.

- What should be the unit's point value? 250.
- Give a brief overview. Wow this was a fun game. Phoenix had a great affect on Jean, and Phoenix was very powerful and excellent in cleaning up multiple targets when she appeared. I loved this game.

Units: Phoenix, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Gambit, and Professor X (1,000) - VS - Red Skull, Baron Von Strucker, Madame Hydra, Hydra Agents x5 and Bodyguards x2 (1,000).

Spoiler Alert!

ROUND 1 - Nightcrawler and Gambit advance. Hydra advance and Red Skull cosmic cubes himself on a mountain. Nightcrawler kills 3 Hydra, then Jean advances, throwing Professor X up next to her on shadow. Hydra shoot up Nightcrawler for 2 wounds and Red Skull misses Nightcrawler. Nightcrawler kills 2 more Hydra and wounds Red Skull sending the Cosmic Cube away, then Gambit picks it up and places a wound on Red Skull with it form Nightcrawler's card, vaults himself over, and kicks Red Skull for another wound, then Gambit loses the Cosmic Cube on his own. Hydra shoot up Nightcrawler and give him and Gambit a wound, then Red Skull takes a wound from LEA from Nightcrawler to take the Cube, put a wound from his card over onto jean's card, which triggers Jean going all Phoenix Fire and giving Professor X a wound as well. Then Red skull hits Gambit for a wound. That normal attack wound triggers Master Motivator and Madame Hydra advances and shoots 2 more wounds on Gambit.

ROUND 2 - Jean advances and throws Red Skull for a wound, and he tosses the glyph far away behind Jean so that Hydra could not easily get to it, then blasts Red Skull for the kill. Then Gambit runs off of the center hill, vaults over head, lands on a small hill facing the Hydra start zone and throws his cards for 2 killed Hydra agents. Hydra kill Gambit and chase Nightcrawler around as he bamfs away and BVS steps in as well. Nightcrawler kills an Agent, then wounds BVS while Jean throws Madame H down for a wound. Hydra kill Nightcrawler and give Jean a wound which Phoenix Fires Madame H as a result. Madame H moves up a bit and attacks Jean but fails. Jean Grey throws and kills an Agent, then hits Madame H and kills her. Hydra and BVS advance and cannot hit Jean.

ROUND 3 - Terrorists advance thanks to BVS, then they shoot Jean for one wound which triggers Phoenix Fire but it doesn't hit the Agent next to her. BVS then advances down the side towards the Cosmic Cube, and he shoots Professor X for a wound. Jean throws BVS and fails to deal any damage on the throw or with her attack on an Agent. Agents kill Jean and she burns an Agent on her way out as Phoenix is being birthed. BVS rolls for Death Spores and hits Phoenix for a single wound. Phoenix lines BVS and an Agent up and throws them both and deals damage to both with the throw. Then from height, she destroys BVS. Hydra shoot Phoenix for a single wound. Phoenix kills an Agent.

ROUND 4 - Phoenix wins initiative, and for a quick and easy kill on an Agent who is in deep and has height, she grabs the Cosmic Cube, heals a wound off of herself, then puts it on the Agent, then takes a wound at the end of her turn and throws it away again. Agents advance. Jean moves in and Psi Blasts two Agents throwing/killing them both, then she attacked another from height and killed him! One agent from height shot Phoenix for 3 skulls and she only got one shield... she died and there was no one around to feel the heat of her Phoenix fire. Professor wheels himself back slowly towards the Cosmic Glyph. Agents fire on him and he blocks it with the X.

ROUND 5 - Agents attack and professor Xs them. Professor X grabs the Cosmic Cube, then heals himself of a wound and kills an Agent. Then he takes a wound for using the glyph, and the glyph gets knocked up on top of a very tall hill... Professor X now has two wounds and is up against 3 Agents and 2 Bodyguards. Agents advance and 2 whiff on their attacks while the last rolls 2 skulls and Professor rolled 2 shields. Professor X moves up on Shadow and mind blasts an Agent. The last two agents engage Professor X and both whiff on attack dice!!!!! Then Professor X whiffs on his mind blast attack!!!

ROUND 6 - Professor kills an agent. The last agent rolls one skull against Professor, and Professor X assumes he can block it... but he doesn't. Now Professor X is one away from death and is up against 1 Hydra Agent and 2 Bodyguards. Professor moves to same height and kills the last Agent. Also, he is inching his way to that Cosmic Cube... Agents lose a turn. Professor moves closer to the Cosmic Cube. Body Guard moves up.

ROUND 7 - Bodyguard moves up. Professor takes the Cosmic Cube and heals/kills a Bodyguard, then he takes a wound himself and loses the glyph. Bodyguard advances and hides a bit. Professor X comes down some, towards the glyph. Bodyguard has no where to go, cause he can't get to Professor X before Professor X can get that glyph, so he just moves up and towards the professor. Professor X grabs the glyph, heals/kills the last Bodyguard, then takes a wound and loses the glyph but wins the game.
Who won and how many wounds did they have? Professor X wins with 3 wounds.

- Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes.
- What should be the unit's point value? 250.
- Give a brief overview. She ended up being a great counter to Batman and Superman, because she can auto wound both on her turn or theirs, just she got lucky with her defense against Batman, or he would have likely won.

Units: Phoenix and Wonderman VS Superman I and Batman.

Spoiler Alert!

Superman and Wonderman tangled at first, and when Wonderman had died, Superman had 5 wounds already. Phoenix came in and threw Superman to put him within 1 of his own life. When Superman went to take his turn, he hit phoenix and put her at 2 away from death, then her Phoenix Fire snubbed Superman out. Batman stepped up, but he couldn't Phoenix, and she wasn't even attacking Batman. Phoenix would only throw him to avoid evasive strikes.

HHs done and 250 feel really good to me. I couldn't be happier with the balance and fun factor here.

HOW TO PAINT THE PHOENIX FIGURE:

Take your Ms. Marvel figure and clean any dust off it.
With fingernail clippers, clip off some of the Skrull's chin.
Paint the entire figure green, except the face and hair.
Paint the gloves, leggings, and sash white.
Paint the gloves, leggings, and sash yellow.
Put a lime green wash over the entire figure, except for the face and hair.
Dry brush some yellow over the gloves, leggings, and sash.
Paint the face with a flesh color.
Put a thin bright red wash over the hair.
Paint two white almond shapes for the eyes.
Paint two burgundy arches for eyebrows.
Paint two black dots for pupils.
Paint a small thin bright red line for a mouth.
Paint a white triangle on the chest so that it points down and goes from shoulder to shoulder and down to the middle of her chest.
Paint the white triangle yellow.
Outline the yellow triangle black.
Paint two small black triangles on each side of the yellow triangle, so that they are pointing inward.
Using black and yellow paint, touch up the symbol on the chest to look like the phoenix symbol.
