Pricing: What were they thinking?

I'm curious if anybody has any speculation (or inside information) on how they decide to price army cards.

First off, do you think they price them according to their maximum value? Or do you think they price them according to some average value respective to a variety of scenarios?

Secondly, how do you think they divide up the cost of bonded units? Is it the unit with bonding that receives the boost or the unit that is the recipient of the bonding? Or do you think they split the bonus up fairly evenly between the two?

Beyond that, I'm just curious if anybody has any general insights on how they work out pricing.

Thanks.

if you are really wanting to look into it, download one of the free Card making programs. You can see pricing in that.

i should add that that would just be a "start".
The final pricing always comes down to playtesting.

Yes, I'm sure that there is a generic, general matrix that the devs use for a starting point but the final pricing probably gets tweaked through play testing.

From the tips and stricks section for charos on the official site:

We originally had Charos at 190 points. One of our play testing groups helped us determine that he was much too powerful for that cost.

So playtesting is a factor

I would hope that playtesting is a factor...

Okay, okay... I see where you are going with this...
Although, I was using spartacus with the other 2 gladiators this weekend. I didn't find him overpriced. By himself "yes" but with the other two, they can mash through the figs pretty quick.

I for one would love to see a generic formula for determining point cost. Perhaps some of the custom unit creators have devised at least an approximation of how Hasbro does this.

There is one posted in the 'Downloads' section but I wasn't very happy with it. It wasn't written very well so it reads a bit cryptic.
