Re: Question Dump: Post Your Questions Here.
The Special always tells you exactly how much dice you get, no lower, no higher period. The Lurking Ambush is just a power that helps him in attacking. Example: the protectors, they get one extra attack for ever wound given in one turn. But it's not a special.

Re: Question Dump: Post Your Questions Here.
legolasbaker, the right answer is being given to you. However, we cannot make you accept it.
Choose to ignore it if you like, but why even ask if you are going to reject the answer? And if arguing about it is your bag, please take it somewhere else. Last edited by R˙chean; August 1st, 2010 at 12:10 PM. Reason: . |

If it doesn't say SPECIAL ATTACK, then it's a special ability. Special abilities can modify normal attacks. That is it; end of "debate." |

Re: Question Dump: Post Your Questions Here.
Everyone else has given you the correct answer. Special POWERS that modify a normal attack (Blood Frenzy, Lurking Ambush, +2 Broadsword, Sneak Attack 2, etc.) still allow that normal attack to also be modified by height, glyphs, auras, etc.
Only abilities called Special ATTACKS (this will be in the text of the ability) cannot be modified by glyphs, height, auras, etc. "While there is a lower class, I am in it, while there is a criminal element, I am of it, and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free." - Eugene V Debs |

Re: Question Dump: Post Your Questions Here.
My question is:
What are special POWERS considered for cards like the dividers, who can divide if att. by a normal or special att, or the Deepworm Drow, who cna only hide against normal att. Where do special Powers fall in? Thanks ~K^L |

Re: Question Dump: Post Your Questions Here.
A special power is not considered a normal attack. For example. Sonlen's Dragon Swoop is a special power that inflicts one unblockable wound. If a divider or a Deepwyrm Drow were hit by Dragon Swoop they would not get to activate their special powers, because Dragon Swoop is not considered to be a normal attack.
A normal attack uses the base attack value that is printed on every card. Some special powers like +2 Broadsword add to that printed base value, as do some glyphs and height advantage but as long as you are including the base attack value in the attack it is still considered to be a normal attack. I hope this answered the last two questions posted in this thread. |

Re: Question Dump: Post Your Questions Here.
Chardris said it well.
There are abilities that just deliver wounds or death, like Braxas, Sonlen, etc. You don't get to defend. You just chose the wrong day to be on the battlefield. Abilities are not special attacks. If it's a special attack, it will have the words "Special Attack" in the name of the ability. Check out Gulp's Glyphs Not Worth Grabbing and Gulp's Abilities Not Worth Activating! Re: Question Dump: Post Your Questions Here.
I have a question:
Mrspy and I were playing a game last night, with his DW9K attacking a cluster of Marro Dividers. He used explosion attack, and he killed one of my dividers, only to have me roll a 19 and get another divider back. My question: Does the newly brought back divider have to defend himself against the explosion attack, or is he exempt from the attack. |
