As a Titans fan, the continued continuance of Jeff Fisher is one of the things that never ceases to amaze me. Having said that, here's a brilliantly written bit from this article:

The Rams’ team headquarters is such a judgment-free zone that the Rams gave Fisher a two-year contract extension earlier this season, one that will pay him $7 million in 2017 and $9 million in 2018.

As I understood it, the last modification to his contract was not a true extension, though it did increase his pay or something. Even if he's a fine football coach, clearly the time has come and gone for the players to start getting their coaching from a new face.

He sure did have a good Titans team, though, back in the late '90s and early '00s.

edit: At the height of that team's power, its rival was the Baltimore Ravens, coached by Brian Billick. It's interesting that Billick left coaching as a relatively young man, with more professional success under his belt, and Fischer is still in it, losing as fast and as much as he can get away with. Billick has hinted that he'd been asked to interview for things and had declined to do so, which makes sense, I guess. It's a hard lifestyle.

If I am one of the teams left on the Rams' schedule I am sweating bullets right now, because Fisher will find some way to go 3-1 the rest of the way to keep the dream intact.

He had Steve McNair, mostly. Trey Wingo tweeted (as buried in this SBNation article) that as of Nov. 20 Fisher for his career is 21 games over .500 with McNair and 9 games under .500 without him. Shoot, take away the Music City Miracle and Fisher would have exactly two playoff wins in six appearances over nineteen seasons (also from the linked article).

At some point, surely all of the league owners will realize that the common denominator on all of those middle of the road teams is Fisher, right?
