Re: The Book of TARDIS (VOTE for Initial)

It's a tough one to cost. It's survivability basically is irrelevant, because it's too hard to kill with it's life and defense combo compared to how much more efficient it will likely be to just kill its occupants.

There's no real way to keep enemy figures out of it, because you can't really block off entrances to it very effectively. So I think it's best to just ignore its base stats.

I think the first and fourth power really mostly clarify things rather than adding any real value.

So its value comes down to being a really, really good pod mover at the investment price of a Doctor or someone of his species, and then a once per game figure saving power.

Both of those actual values come with a bit of fiddliness, of course, as it's a full cover vehicle, meaning most pods need to exit their pieces and set up outside of the TARDIS to be effective, and the once per game save likely removes a pod piece from being an effective member of the pod temporarily.

I generally have come to view the Batmobile as a bit overpriced, sadly (I think it'd be fine at 200, for instance). I probably would start right around 250 and wouldn't be surprised to see it go down.

Edit: yea with checklists.

C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of TARDIS (Initial)

This passes on time. Here's some playtests.
Quote:
C3G INITIAL PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM

NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: TARDIS

Army Test 1
Map: Castle Dracula (Custom Map)
Units: Team 1 (1,000): TARDIS (250), 1st Doctor (90), Professor X (220), Blob (165), Mirage (155), Yukio (120)
Team 2 (1,000): Captain America (240), Winter Soldier II (240), Ms. MArvel (350), Bishop (170)

Pre-game thoughts: Plan is to transport the Mutants up to height as quick as possible, then stall for as long as they can while dealing out damage. This isn’t a super high attack army so they might struggle with Cap, but they’re hoping to last long enough to get in some lucky shots.

Summary of the game:
Spoiler Alert!

Post-game thoughts: Yeah, that team just didn’t have the offensive firepower to hold up against the heavier Avengers units. The unpredictability of the Tardis also hurt them. It took them 3 turns to re-materialize when they really needed to do it in one. Pretty thematic, but might be worth keeping an eye on for gameplay reasons. Having to invest at least 340 points to get the Tardis working feels like a pretty massive disadvantage in your standard 1,000 point game, I think.
___________________________________________________________

Army Test 2
Map: Castle Dracula (Custom Map)
Units: Team 1 (990): TARDIS (195), 11th Doctor (160), Nebula (240), Cyrax (220), Jason (175)
Team 2 (990): Batman III (250), Black Canary III (220), Green Arrow II (210), Captain Marvel Jr. (310)

Pre-game thoughts: Big point cost drop her (Meant to be 200, but ended up at 195), but it felt needed after the 1st game.

Summary of the game:
Spoiler Alert!

Post-game thoughts: The Tardis did some really cool stuff here. When the Doctor saved Cyrax, Freddy flew inside to take them both out, but that turned out to be a poor move as the two time travellers were able to pin him down and auto-wound him to death. Definitely a learning curve involved with having a smaller “room” to go into on the battlefield (as someone who hasn’t played many other enclosed structures), but I’m really digging how it’s feeling strategically relevant. There was also a few neat points where I considered having the Doctor take off with an enemy figure in the Tardis to keep them out of the game. Didn’t happen, but it was a cool possibility.

The Doctor/Cyrax power couple is really strong, and felt like it dominated this match a bit. But the Tardis is totally functioning like it should, and that’s exciting.

Army Test 3
Map: Castle Dracula (Custom Map)
Units: Team 1 (900): TARDIS (200), 1st Doctor (90), 11th Doctor (160), Dalek Drones x3 (450)
Team 2 (900): Star-Lord (250), Rocket Raccoon II (195), Baby Groot (105), Drax I (350)

Pre-game thoughts: I was trying to think of slow characters that might really benefit from the Tardis. Then it hit me.

Drax chooses the 11th Doctor as his Nemesis.

Summary of the game:
Spoiler Alert!

Post-game thoughts: A very close game here. The Tardis did its job, and everything felt as it should.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Felt pretty good at 200. It gets you into optimal positioning better, saves a unit once per game, and serves as a way to stall your enemy out from attacking your guys. (Either by acting as a LoS blocker or by hiding your figures within.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: Really liking how the Tardis feels! It’s capturing everything it needs for me thematically. I do think it’ll lend itself towards slightly gimmicky transporting builds, but that’s just kind of the nature of the beast with teleporting units in this game.
