Well, everyone's got to do a couple of these before they move on, right? Thanks for the comments.

Now that I am back from a short Heroscape Map hiatus, allow me to introduce "X Marks the Spot," aka "Marcu's Island," whichever you prefer.
Although I am not the biggest pirate fan, this map just sounded like a fun idea.

The background: Cyprien leaves his cursed relative Marcu to guard his buried treasure. Years later he returns to the swampy island with 3 other armies hot on his tail, and Marcu isn't all that happy to see him (or anybody really, because it turns out he's full of eternal hatred).

The scenario: before each round, each player rolls the d20 to determine control of Marcu. Marcu starts on the glyph of Ulaniva (buried treasure) but cannot activate any glyphs at any time. There are 3 temporary glyps and 1 pit trap placed randomly at the other 4 locations. Players use 300 point armies starting where illustrated. Ninjas versus Elves versus Crusaders versus Vampires sounded good to me.

We played a 3 player and a 4 player game on "X Marks the Spot." It was a blast. We used 300 point armies, and it was very even, with very little ganging up, even in the 3 player mode. Although the starting zones are close together, it is difficult and very risky to climb or fly up over the "sand dunes" between the zones. You have to meet in the middle, and the terrain is sufficiently dirty and blocked with trees to cause a lot of maneuvering. The random glyphs added some risk/reward fun, with the pit-trap coming into play in both games. I'll say it's the best 4 player map I've played so far.

Ugly-Caco rolls all skulls baby! Ugly-Caco rolls all skulls baby! Ugly-Caco rolls all skulls baby! Ugly-Caco rolls all skulls baby!

This looks like a fun map. This can work for both melee and range figures.

I am humbled by the complement, sir. By the way, thanks for bringing this thread to the forefront. It will make it easier for me to post my latest creation this evening.

Welcome to Floodgate Station. All comments are welcome. This map is designed for 2 teams of 2, with average to large sized armies. The 4 glyphs around the station are randomly placed, with 2 being glyphs of Rannveig, and the other 2 are a pit trap and massive curse. They give each side the potential to halt flight to the battlements. Inside the station are 2 glyphs of brandar for controlling the floodgates.

Scenarios may include goals to control both floodgate glyphs after 10 rounds or so. A mechanic could also be introduced to cause damage to anyone in the water if the floodgates are opened, also forcing the figures to move up to 4 spaces out of the water or be destroyed. Possibilities?

My favorite aspect of this map is the progressive heights of the walls, giving this castle a boat shape. Enjoy!

The four grassy hills, at the corners of the map, are the start zones. That's why it won't really work for a 4 player free for all: no cover across the little river.
