Junge Roman's Battlefield Maps- New Map pg. 4, 10-14-08

After absolutely no demand from the public...

After I finally realized how many hours have been spent toiling with plastic hexagons, I decided to document my work. Some of my best maps may be lost to time, but from now on, I will photograph and post my decent maps for all to view and comment.

These are all my original creations. Some of the concepts may subconsciously come from something I have seen; however, I have not intentionally based these maps on anyone else's work.

Floodgate Station- 2 - 4 players (large armies or teams)

X Marks the Spot- 2 - 4 players (small armies)

Beggar's Canyon- 2 or 2 teams of 2

Temple of Lodin- 3 or 2 players

Melting Castle- 2 players

Crucible- 4 or 2 players

Firepath- 2 players

Vanguard Keep- 2 or 3 players

Note: All of these can be built with 1 ROTV masterset, 1 SOTM masterset and up to 2 of each expansion. I cannot be more specific than that.

See more at the bottom of page 2.

Fl0ydski Woo who?
The water with the ice and Glaciers is a nice effect.
And your Castle builds are pretty interesting.

Cool stuff man.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for all the encouraging responses! Please see the latest creation in the 1st post. It is my pride and joy at the moment.

There will not be build instructions (no time!), but I have added auxillary views for your enjoyment.

Melting castle was an abstract work, designed mostly to give the impression of a derelict keep being ravaged by rising lava (underneath).
It also did a great job at making interesting line of sight and height advantage issues. See the "game over" pic for a deconstructed view.

Water and ice- see additional view of Vanguard Keep showing that off a little.

Fire and Snow- see additional Crucible pic for a different look at that.

Beggar's Canyon turns out to be incredibly fun. I played two games on it. A 500 point 1 on 1 with the armies starting in the canyon (starting zones at either end of the water), and a 700 point 1 on 1 with armies starting on either plateau (starting zones anywhere but adjacent to the bridge railing).

Moving through the canyon while firing at your enemy (all the while choosing which side of the stream to maneuver to) was quite fun. Most nonflyers take several rounds to get up to the cliff (and glyph of rannveig is under the bridge) so it turned into a nice melee affair on the low ground. AE dropped on the bridge, and Einar Imperium slew them, but Drake took them out. The rest of the action was down by the river.

Starting on the cliff led to Q9 playing the part of an artillery unit, and various other units trying to rush via the road. -a blast.

Teams could work with 1 starting high and 1 starting low for each team.

They look great. I just don't like this one because people use lava and snow right next to each other way to often. But other than that I like this one too.

ROTV-(2x land) 1SOTM 2RTTFF 1VW 1Tundra 1FOTA All expansion packs up to wave 6 (getting wave 7 soon).
