No, you don't suck, Dranubis. The card itself looks great, I like how he's larger-than-life, sort of busting out of the picture area. But his abilities are worded strangely, to say the least. I really can't figure out what either is meant to do.

ah don't listen to him. The abiliteis are worded great. I have been trying to figure out how to word an ability like that one forever. The only complaint is that Unique hero is sticking out of the card. Not a big problem though.

With a few tweaks, I think you've got a solid figure in the making (and a good looking card, too.) I've got some suggestions for wording changes on your abilities(I'm somewhere between Pumpkin_King and Taelord on this one ):

TENTOMUSHI EYE
Before moving, roll the D20. If you roll a 16 or higher, any enemy figure attacked during this turn rolls 2 (3?) less defense dice.

ANCESTOR BLADE
Instead of attacking, Kensei Saint may roll attack dice against any friendly ninja or samurai. For every skull rolled the targetted figure's card receives an additional defense die for the remainder of the round.

I think those are close to what you intended, but more in line with the text on the official cards. May want to monkey with his cost, but I think 140 isn't too outrageous - maybe closer to 120, even 110?

Also, a reason why there aren't any official range 2 (or even 3) figures, is due to the mechanics of range, there is no height limit to that 2 range. A figure may be 2 spaces away horizontally, but 25 levels up, and still be in range. A little clunky, but you may want to put an "ability" on the card with text limiting the vertical range of the card.

I think what he was trying to accomplish with the eye was something like this:

TENTOMUSHI EYE
After moving and before attacking, choose 1 figure with 2 or less base defense within 4 clear spaces of Kensei Saint. Roll the 20-sided die. On a roll of 16 or higher, Kensei may attack that figure.

I'm confused as hell on this one. Do you mean that you want the figure to automatically take 1 wound? Or that Kensei gets range 4 to attack the chosen figure with his attack of 5?

Here's some clearer wording for your second ability, although I think it would be really difficult of make work, since it requires you to keep track of single figures' individual defense.

ANCESTOR BLADE
After moving and instead of attacking, choose 1 friendly Samurai or Ninja within 2 clear spaces of Kensei. Roll 5 attack dice. Until the beginning of your next turn, the chosen figure rolls 1 additional defense die for each skull that Kensei rolls using the Ancestor Blade Special Ability.

I think toddrew's got what I was trying to say (stupid brain...why you no
work good). I just wanted him to be able to have a defence piercing attack
and a way to defend his einar samurai. Hes kind of a Bishimon type that
acts like protective ancestor. The reason for the 2 range is to simulate the
longer weapon. Thats all...

Exactly - many have wanted a figure with melee weapons to have a range of 2 (like with the heavy gruts in the upcoming wave 6, for example), but I think to keep a modicum of realism (which isn't exactly a requirement of HS ) some sort of height limitation, say +5 or 10 from height of figure to -5 or 10 from the base of the figure, is needed.

Or maybe not, I don't know that there is an eloquent way of stating the intention. I think I have something like this on one of our customs...

I thought it sounded like a beam weapon shooting from the eye in his torso.

Very nice first try at a card by the way.

Kensei take 2

Reworked it just a little, and followed the wording toddrew suggested.
Also added a third power to justify the 140 price tag..

Nice changes.

I would suggest changing the wording on the 2nd ability to read something like-

All non-friendly common squad figures adjacent to Kensei must roll at least one shield in defense or be paralyzed for the remainder of the round.


This is a difficult mechanic as not all members of a squad may be adjacent to the Kensei figure. You would need to mark the individual figures with a token to denote which figures have been paralyzed.

A round is finished when all players have completed three activations or turns. A turn is what follows the activation of a single turn marker. This is further confused by the possibilitiy of bonding allowing you to take "turns" with more than one card in a single activation.

I do like where this card is going.
