Spoiler Alert!

Recap: This was a slaughter. Broly just killed all the spiders one by one, and with his massive move he was able to assassinate Otto in round 2. But to note, the Spiders rolled TERRIBLE offense, including Punk who whiffed on his 3 unblockables he threw. The Lariat just kept them all at a disadvantage when combined with his Legendary power.

Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Moon Knight, Daredevil (800)

Spoiler Alert!

Recap: Iron Fist starts putting the hurt on Broly, but eventually Broly takes 3 LEAs to blast Fist, Daredevil, and Cage with his Cannon SA, killing Luke in one hit with a whiff, and dealing serious damage to the others. The Fighters couldn’t do anything to Broly after Luke died. None of their attacks got through, and once Moon Knight darted Broly for his 8th wound, that double attack was his death sentence.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Broly is cool, but wow is he tough. It didn’t feel like either team had any chance. The Spiders rolled terribly, but Broly is SO good at assassinating a leader that even if they rolled better I’m not sure it would have mattered. The double attack was only used once and basically just desecrated Moon Knight’s corpse.

Oh jeez, Thanks for the playtests. Sounds like he was pretty devastating in these match-ups. That sucks...

Yeah but luck was obviously huge. One option I think would be cool is to drop his attack by one or two, and instead of the double attack, just add more dice to his attack. Double attack of basically 9 (since getting height with lariat is so freaking easy), is devastating. But you might want one more test regardless.

Yeah, that makes sense. Lex is signed up right now, so I'll wait for his tests to come back before changing anything. This guy was pretty tough to get his stats and powers narrowed down during his initials, so I wouldn't be surprised if he needed a little more public testing.

Just ticking his Attack or Defense down by 1 might be enough to balance him too. I felt like he was close in my games. But yeah, that double attack of 8 is devastating when it triggers.

Units: Broly (800) VS Kilowog (310), Green Lantern (Uncommon) (120) x4 (800)

Kilowog charges up the GL Recruits, but Broly targets Kilowog fast, and he’s able to get to him easily with Lariat - though he takes a few leaving engagement wounds in the process. Broly kills Kilowog at the start of round 2, but the GL Recruits whittle Broly down slowly. Broly whiffs a few attacks in round 2, and the GLs get him to 9 wounds. But in round 3, Broly unleashes an Eraser cannon to heavily wound 3 of the GLs. The GLs bring Broly to 11 wounds, then Broly tears through 3 of them. Broly wins initiative and one-shots the last GL to win.

Had the GL won initiative, it would have won. Broly won initiative each round this game somehow.

Dropping Broly’s Move to 7 after talking with Jekyll. One of Broly’s greatest strengths is the ability to carry an enemy figure far away with Lariat, and that limits how often the enemy can counterattack. A movement drop should keep that in check a bit more.[/B]

Broly starts things out by slapping 3 wounds onto Tar Pit. The Rogues put 2 wounds on Broly, then Broly kills Tar Pit to end the first round. Cold Flash Freezes Broly to limit his Lariat. The Rogues are blocked. Broly kills Weather Wizard. Rogues bring Broly to 4 wounds. Broly one-shots Top though takes a leaving engagement wound. Rogues benefit from the round switch, with Flash Freeze preventing Broly from engaging Cold. Rogues bring Broly to 11 wounds. Broly kills Cold. Broly then blocks an attack, and kills Kadabra.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Close games. Broly’s definitely a powerhouse, but like any event hero once he gets a couple defensive whiffs he really feels the pain. I think he’s a stronger option at 800 points, but he's beatable. Could take his Move down to 6 if you really want to be sure. But I think it's okay for an Event Hero to be on the stronger end of our power scaling too.

I do feel like Lariat should be like "Flying Lariat" or something. Mechanics are just very removed from any non-specifically DBZ use of the word lariat.
