Character Bio - Magik is called to the Limbo dimension by Belasco. She is raised there, frequently bullied and tormented by Belasco's underling S'ym. She is rescued and tutored in the practice of white magic by that dimension's version of Storm. Finding the use of magic abhorrent, Limbo's version of Shadowcat, known as Cat, kidnaps and trains Illyana in hand to hand and sword combat. Cat, along with Illyana, storms Belasco's citadel. They are overwhelmed by Belasco. With Illyana back under his control, Belasco instructs her in the art of black magic in the hopes that it will further corrupt her soul. However, Illyana plots Belasco's defeat and continues to resist the dark influence on her soul. Illyana forms a mystical bond between both Storm and Cat. Illyana creates the Soulsword and takes over Limbo as its new ruler. She then returns to Earth a decade older, although no time has passed on Earth since her kidnapping. She subsequently joins the New Mutants. A strange armor begins to appear on her body each time she wields the Soulsword. The armor appears only on one of her shoulders and arms at first, but appears on more of her body each time that she wields the sword.

Instead of moving normally, you may place Magik on any empty space within 3 spaces of her current position and roll 10 combat dice. If you roll 3 or fewer blanks, place Magik on an empty space exactly X spaces away from her current placement, where X is the number of blanks rolled. If you roll 4 or more blanks, choose an opponent. That opponent may place Magik exactly X spaces away from her current placement, where X is the number of blanks rolled. Magik never takes leaving engagement attacks when moving with Stepping Discs.

SOUL SWORD
When attacking an adjacent figure with Magik's normal attack, add one automatic skull to whatever is rolled; or two automatic skulls if the defending figure is an Angel, Demon, or Undead. Opponents' figures cannot use the Magical Defense or Temporal Defense special powers when defending against Magik's adjacent normal attack.

MAGICAL DEFENSE
When Magik is attacked by an opponent's figure that does not have the Magical Defense special power, the most wounds Magik can take for this attack is one.

Instead of her normal move Magik may use Stepping Discs. Roll the 20-sided die, if you roll 1-9 Magik may not move, if you roll 10 or higher place Magik on an empty space within 4 spaces. When Magik starts to Teleport, she will not take any leaving engagement attacks. After using Stepping Discs 10, you may use it one additional time.

Magik adds one automatic skull when attacking an Angel, Demon, or Undead figure. Opponent’s figures cannot use the Magical Defense or Temporal Defense powers when attacked by Magik.

MAGICAL DEFENSE

Long overdue. I am excited. You posted some ideas while we were voting on the designs, any you are still considering?

It was for the Soul Sword Power. I feel like the wording I have now works better as far as mechanics go than the previous one.

Nice! My one note is that I'd be tempted to simplify the Soulsword a bit, to avoid having to manage the markers.

Maybe just an immediate second attack with +2 attack/auto skull?

I could see that working. I'm not a big fan of tokens to be honest, It just seemed appropriate.

I suppose that would mean you couldn't cast any defensive spells then right?


Seems like a good pairing with Cyclopes II. Use the free move to try and teleport from the rear. If it doesn't work, no big deal, if it does, she's in position to use the free attack on the next turn.
