Re: Heroscape 2nd Edition is here!

These new units seem to be made for warfare, not any sort of everyday life. To have weapons for hands instead of hands for hands means these creatures were made to fight and fight alone. I predict we will pay a premium in point cost for these units, with games at around 700 points being the norm.

Handle origin: I used to film comedy skits with my friends. I didn't want any cursing in them, so I made up new insults, like "dendrik". Then Sir Denrick came out, and the rest is history.

Keep posting in both, please. It's nice to have them here so the active conversation has some landmarks/signposts. It would be more confusing to have to swap between 2 threads to get the inline context.

Plus it gives more chance to rep you for the yeoman's work you are doing.

Who got this Quake II all over my Heroscape?! Seriously though the Strogg faction looks cool as hell. Hope to see their take on some preexisting "sci-fi" factions like the zettians. Maybe these guys are related?

Well, I do agree that complaining is not something we want to encourage. However, I don't think it's quite accurate to say that expressing disappointment won't change anything. As you point out, Hasbro is a corporation, and corporations listen to their customers (and potential customers) all the time. Of course, they may listen and choose to ignore us—that's their prerogative. But they can't listen to us if we don't speak.

As for negativity, that's absolutely one of my points: we must endeavor not to be too negative. However, I don't think it's practical to ask everyone to only ever post positive thoughts. If people have concerns, and they can express them respectfully, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask people to respect them.

They are unusable to me. I'm not sure what I said to give you the impression that I was stating a universal fact. In point of fact, pretty much the only absolute statement I feel comfortable making is that I don't make absolute statements. (Although, rereading what I just wrote, I even qualified that absolute statement, by adding the phrase "pretty much" ...) So I think it's worth being careful what we read into other people's posts.

I agree whole-heartedly. It's also important not to make newcomers and bystanders feel like they aren't allowed to express any concerns because someone will scold them for being "negative." The way we talk about this absolutely matters. I'm glad we've finally reached concensus on this issue.

I'm down for this too. I'm thoroughly enjoying the Ironclad Collective style.

I can only conclude that people who don't live in coastal cities are disturbed and dangerous psychopaths the rest of us should keep close tabs on.

I can finally post!

Coming from the Midwest, I can confirm that this is correct and you should be worried for us.

I really love the way in which this faction allows for non-traditional methods of transportation. Treads? Ball-wheels? And now more spider legs!

Re: Heroscape 2nd Edition is here!

I find it interesting and think it might be a marketing thing that we are getting faction previews. If you compare it to a diachronic view of OldScape, you really notice it. RotV had kind of a squad + a hero faction building, but it took a bit for really developed factions to come out.

I am wondering about the feasibility of still following the old motto of "See Scape, buy Scape" and wondering if NewScape might be more faction-focused. I would be a little scared of a Warhammer type change where players more or less only choose one faction to buy and run with (at least that's how I think it works), in part because owning everything is too expensive.

I really hope owning everything isn't too expensive.....
