Re: The Book of Nemesis - On Hold
Dhalsim also has a fire breath attack...
LEVITATION Dhalsim is considered to have height advantage over any figure without the Aerial Advantage, Flying, or Levitation special power whose base is no more than 2 levels above his base. Dhalsim does not take falling damage and may ignore all effects from terrain tiles he moves onto or occupies. YOGA FIRE SPECIAL ATTACK Range 3. Attack 3. Figures roll 1 fewer die when defending against this special attack. If Dhalsim inflicts one or more wounds with this special attack and the defending figure does not have the Lava Resistant special power, roll one unblockable attack die for Burn Damage. Continue rolling for Burn Damage until you do not roll a skull. Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: The Book of Nemesis - On Hold
FYI, I tweaked Fire Line here to reduce its effects and range when compared with Mimring.

Re: The Book of Nemesis - On Hold
I know when I first wrote up a fire breath power, I had to do some heavy searching to justify it hitting more than one figure at a time.
I sort of like Dhalsim's fire attack, though I would make it Fire and Acid and drop the immunity for Lava Resistance. I encourage all to read the comics to get a better sense of the character. |

Re: The Book of Nemesis - On Hold
Honestly, there seem to be so many much more interesting options you could go for for a third power (something along the lines of Servant of Khaos in the OP, a Blitzspear drop type thing, something that establishes him as the leader of an alien revolution etc.) that I would genuinely advise against a standard 'fire breath SA' when that's a) far from unique at this point, b) can already be nicely represented by him just having a ranged normal attack, and c) he already has access to spells so if you really want him to throw fire at someone you can just draft him with Mystic Flames (or any of the Hellfire spells, if you're willing to risk the wound).

Re: The Book of Nemesis - On Hold
Well, my suggestion was based on those couple of links that Arkham posted. Obviously you know the character better. Also, Lazy makes a good point with the Hellfire spells simulating fire breath. Does his Acid Attack happen more often? If so, then maybe riff off Yoga Flame for wording. If not, then sounds like the Drop from his Ship May be the best option for the middle power. I really like Sinister Swordplay and Magical Defense, so I think it’s down to figuring out that third power.

Fair enough, you, as a Brit, know him way better than me. I’m just trying to help Tornado with the support I feel he needs by giving him ideas other than his own.

Re: The Book of Nemesis - On Hold
I wouldn't go overboard with any kind of leadership thing. One thing that might be a good light touch idea would be to have the Sword Sinister also work against Dictators in addition to Humans. That sells the revolutionary theme a little bit, plus that way it works against Torquemada even when he's Undead.
I think an alternate take on Servant of Khaos (that feels a little more 'chaotic' so the theme comes through a little more clearly) could do a lot. Maybe a lite riff on Chaotic Leadership could thread the needle there and do a little bit of the revolutionary thing and also represent his wacky chaos stuff. |

Re: The Book of Nemesis - On Hold
I kind of like the idea of an alien revolutionary leader as well. It would certainly lead to him being drafted more often if he had a good leadership power as you would want to build an army idea around whatever it is he offers. I'm just not sure how to get across the alien aspect. Non-human, clone (Dredd is a human clone), mutant (humans with mutated genes), mutate (humans changed by science), and inhuman (humans experimented on by the Kree) leadership seems way too wordy. Maybe go the other direction and just let him only be the leader of a couple of specific species? Are there any Marvel or DC outer space races he would naturally seem to align himself with based on personality/goals/etc.? Kree, Asguardians, Kryptoninans, Skrull?

Re: The Book of Nemesis - On Hold
There is the problem with Alien Leader, there is no easy way to define who he can lead through Species. Now if it was classic and each figure had a homeworld, we would be in business.
Currently I think Blitzspear is the best option for replacing Servant of Khaos, which I still like but is awfully niche and a bit weird. The Dictator (or whatever Torq will be) addition sounds good and theme-y. |

Re: The Book of Nemesis - On Hold
I don't think he needs much, or anything in the way of leadership. I may be misremembering, but I remember him as more an inspirational leader than a strategic/tactical one.
Also, if we wanted to sell that aspect of his character, we could do an Alien Revolutionaries squad that could bond with Revolutionary Heroes. I could see Magneto getting in on that action. |
