Angela is a Spawn character (and now a Marvel character). Angelus is the "good" counterpart to the Darkness, and sort of a... prototypical angel of the Witchblade universe? She and the Darkness had a "truce" and she gave birth to the Witchblade which exists as a balance between those two extremes.

Arch-vile got me off to a great start. I'm now down to around 60ish figures left to sort and sub-sort before it'll come back here for help looking over and fixing anything I goofed. Which there may well be plenty of.

Wow! To think, all this time I thought that rare mini was Angela, only to find out now that it's a completely different character.

The cool thing is we can do two different versions of Angela if we want, for each company.

As far as I know though Angela is really lame in Marvel. She used to have this huge backstory and worked with and against Spawn, only to be killed off in an epic fight.

Now she's just Thor's sister or something. And nobody cares. Really weird that Marvel wanted this character to not do much with her.

Yeah, I've been wanting to do a Spawn version for her but have not been able to brainstorm something that really got me excited. Plus I'm not sure what mini options are available for the Spawn version.

I would just use the Marvel mini for it. She has at least one.

I vaguely heard the idea that Marvel (or a writer working for Marvel) wanted her basically for the purposes of being a colossal inked middle finger to Todd McFarlane....

I think it was more that Neil Gaiman fought for the rights to the character more as a matter of principle than because he actually wanted to do anything with them. So once he won his suit, he kinda just... Handed em over to Marvel and went on his merry way.

And I wouldn't doubt that one bit! McFarlane has done a HUGE amount of good for the comics industry, but he also liked to be a pain in people's butts. Always seemed a bit full of himself. (And Spawn itself is overrated. I keep trying to read it but keep giving up. The writing just isn't good)
