Friday Game Night (looking for a better name)
This may belong in the Battle Reports section, please move if so.
Had an idea that may be far too grand in scale to have it work, but I figured I try and get some feedback. I was thinking of picking one Friday a month (or every 3rd/4th Friday) and calling it Friday Game Night (I'm sure there's something better to call it). The point/purpose would be to have our fellow Scapers play as they normally would (on the specified day/night) and report the outcomes of the battles in this thread and track the progress of good vs evil. So basically it would be games of Utgar (along with the possibility of other units who will be deemed 'evil') vs everyone else ('good'). All that would be needed to be reported is the amount of points each side started with, victory points, and who won. I'll compile the points along with all the wins and losses to get an outcome. Will probably make it some sort of running commentary and give stats according to where the results came from as well (ie Florida, California, Canada, etc...). Each game night a specific objective could be set or type of game. For example: 1) 500pts of Utgar's robots vs 500pts of 'good' archers. 2) Take the high point 3) Water World 4) Army of Vipers Endless possibilities for themed battles and the like. After X number of game nights, a winner will be determined. Just thought this might be something fun and (if there wasn't already an attempt to do this) different to try. If there is enough interest I'll set the first Game Night shortly (probably do it a weekend at a time). I guess you could say this is a lot like a Games Workshop summer campaign. |

In the spirit of 'Football Night in America' and 'Hockey Night in Canada', call it 'Friday Night in Valhalla'. I think there have been a couple of things like this attempted before, but they fizzled out before really starting (or I just didn't see it if they did).

FOnd of Campaigns
I am very fond of the idea of interrelated battles and campaigns with a consistant theme. I also like the idea of good versus evil.
Taelord helping the Onocrons, it's just obscene... I think your idea has merit. The Code: Let the strong protect the weak. Let the weak revere the strong. In all things uphold honor, charity, and justice. And may fear have no place in the hearts of men. |

I guess all I can do is post the first 'game night' and then see what happens.
I'm thinking istead of Friday Night's, do it for an entire weekend's worth of battles, since that's when most of us have enough free time to play/schedule battles. I had another idea pop into my head: Post a map of the world, and as results come in (mostly from the US I suspect, but there will be others as well I'm sure) I'll color that section of the map as controlled by 'good' or 'evil'. Right now I'm thinking of having it start the weekend of the 21st - 23rd. This should give me ample time to get everything set-up and get a few more Scapers reading this thread... and hopefully want to participate. |

Also I'll have to come up with some sort of chart where each section of Valhalla represents a certain number of US states/Countries as far a reporting results and determining who controls what. The first go round I'll probably do three weekends worth of battles, all the while setting things up for the Valhalla map, and see how it goes and if the amount interest/participation is worth the effort put in. Thanks for the suggestion. |
