Re: The Spellbook of Flesh to Stone - Public Playtesting
C3G STANDARD PLAYTEST FEEDBACK FORM
NAME OF THE PLAYTEST UNIT: Flesh to Stone @90 points Army Test Map: Island Plane Crash Units: Flesh to Stone (90), Demona, Zombie, Jason (655) vs Hand Ninja x3, Karai, Bullseye, Skrull Infiltrator x4 (655)
Spoiler Alert!
___________________________________________________________ Army Test Map: Island Plane Crash Units: Flesh to Stone (90), Demona, Zombie, Jason (655) vs Iron Patriot, Rocket Raccoon (I), Jack Flag (655)
Spoiler Alert!
THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Seems okay at 90. It can potentially swing a round in a pretty major way, but it's not a guarantee. Jason/Demona team was fun for it, so I ran that against a couple different kinds of armies instead of shaking up the team for the spell. |

Re: The Spellbook of Flesh to Stone - Public Playtesting
Spoiler Alert!
NAME OF THE TEST UNIT (Flesh to Stone Spell) Army Test 1 - Give a brief preview. Wanted to test the spell out vs. a squad heavy army just to see what kind of impact it could have. Invaders can respawn though so Enchantress and her crew will have to act fast to take Mandarin out once the spell goes off. For his part Mandarin might need to run for a bit if his screen gets wiped out in one go, but he’s got some useful rings that should help him survive should he need to play keep away for a bit and respawn his army. Map: Tacilla Sunrise Units: Enchantress II, Flesh to Stone@90, Enchant Spell, Executioner, Asgardian Warrior (1000) vs. Arthrian Invaders x4, Mandarin (1000)
Spoiler Alert!
Recap: The 3 from Asguard and the Insects all roll out in R1, Insects only score 1W on the Warrior while Enchantress destroys an Insect. At the end of R3 Mandarin moves Enchantress away from her allies and places her on LG in hopes of winning initiative in R2. This plays into her hand some though as she needed to get out in front away from her allies in order to use the Flesh to Stone spell. Enchantress wins initiative, charms Executioner (who rolled just 1 skull on 8 dice), then cast her spell (see above for details). Executioner kills the Bug he’s engaged with on his 2nd att., but no other damage is dealt anywhere. Enchantress wins initiative again, Warrior rushes forward to try and kill the Bug she’s engaged with but fails. A bug scores a W on the Warrior, Madarin throws Enchantress farther away from Executioner (and also takes the bonuses away from the Warrior) and nails the Warrior for 2W, then rolls a 19 to deal 3W to Enchantress. Enchantress charms the Warrior after winning initiative, but he can’t kill a Bug, then she flies over next to Mandarin and hits him for 3W as well! Executioner takes a W, Warrior falls, Mandarin tosses Enchantress away from him (and into engagement with two Bugs), scores another W on her with his rings. Executioner Ice Axe teleports next to Mandarin and kills a Bug that was next to him. Bugs att. Enchantress, 2nd on rolls 4 skulls from HG and Enchantress rolls 5 shields to stay alive! Mandarin them moves Executioner down to LG and att., scoring 3W, but rolls just a 2 for his rings and Enchantress dodges another kill shot. Enchantress cast Enchant on Executioner and hopes to win initiative, even so she only takes OM1 for herself since she’s down to 1 life. Enchantress wins initiative for the 4th time in a row, then rolls a 3 for her charms and even the Enchanted Executioner won’t do her bidding, she also fails to kill a bug. Enchantress survives the 2 Bug attacks, then Mandarin scores another W on Executioner, rolls a 9 for his rings and takes down Enchantress while giving Executioner his 6th W. Executioner drops Mandarin! It’s not Executioner vs. 4 Bugs without a leader and he takes out a Bug on OM3, picks up the attack rings before that, and rolled a 4 vs. a Bug. Bugs win initiative, just 1 Bug can engage Skurge (other two were still in SZ), it rolls 2 skulls on 2 dice and Skurge whiffs on defense to fall and end the game. - Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes, lots of safeguards in place here to keep the spell in check. Really only want to use it on OM1, can’t move first so you already have to be in position as well. - What should be the unit's point value? This game came down to the wire and Mandarin with the AI are really effective, so it’s got to be pretty close. That being said, Enchantress won every initiative roll, managed to stone mandarin with all 3 #ed OM’s unrevealed on his card, and got a lucky defense break in order to make this one end up close. Could have been a blow out here with most everything going her way, so if you wanted to drop it to 80 I won’t object after this one game. _____________________________________________________________ Army Test 2 - Give a brief preview. Going to test the hero heavy army effect this time. Fighter’s want to move out and rumble as a team so lots of targets to get stoned at once. Moon Knight can hang out off the board though so at least he might be spared a stoning. N’Astirh has turned She-Hulk into a demon and launched an attack, supported by his Fire Demon allies. Switched up the board a little bit here since no one cared about water tiles, replaced them with shadow tiles that Daredevil might like. Plus Sunset is a better theme fit for Moon Knight being involved and demons like the dark too. Map: Tacilla Sunset (all water tiles switched to shadow tiles) Units: N’Astirh, Flesh to Stone@90, She-Hulk, Fire Demons (970) vs. Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil II, Tigra, Moon Knight (970)
Spoiler Alert!
Recap: Moon Knight jumps in his dropship while N’Astirh makes a bee line for the Fighters and scores a quick 3W on Iron Fist. Luke scores a W, while Danny heals himself. N’Astirh continues to go after Danny and scores another 2W, while healing himself. DD can’t hit the demon, but Luke scores another W. Fighter protect themselves some by giving Moon Knight OM3, N’Astirh summons up 3 Fire Demons, leaving one back to respawn the others, then the fighters win initiative. Iron Fist scores a W on N’Astirh and heals himself, Luke gives him a 3rd W. N’Astirh cast his spell (see details above). Moon Knight drops down and hits N’Astirh with a Crescent Dart. N’Astirh takes out Danny to end the round, but the Virus then takes him down as well. No Fire Demon spawns. She-Hulk leaps out. Tigra and Luke move towards her. She-Hulk takes out Moon Knight in shadow with just 2 punches, while Tigra scores 1W on her, which she heals at the start of the next turn, no Demon spawn again. She-Hulk focuses on Luke now as she doesn’t want to make Tigra go berserk while she’s bonding with Luke, Luke and Tigra double team her. They score 3W on her, while Luke’s Hard body keeps him from a quick KO, but he still takes 3W as well, Demon spawns for the first time. She-Hulk heals again, this time Luke can only afford 1OM, She-Hulk wins initiative but only rolls 1 skull on att. Luke gets in his double team for 1W, then Luke goes down. Tigra scores 2 more W’s, She-Hulk is on the ropes. She-Hulk tries to drop Tigra in one shot but only scores 3W, and Tigra takes her down with the extra attack! A demon spawns engaged with Tigra. She wins initiative but can’t take it down. The Fire Demon takes her out with a 4 skull roll! OM2 is lost. Fire Demons go after DD, he hears the wings flap but still takes 2W. He then rolls terrible att. dice of his own and the Demons finish him, with him going the distance against the 1st att. and falling to the 2nd. - Does it pass, Yes or No? Yes, having it effect your own troops certainly makes it risky. - What should be the unit's point value? Close win here with basically the same margin of victory at 3 Demons vs. 3 AI in the last game. DD really underwhelmed here and Tigra not being able to take down 1 Fire Demon with 3 attacks of 5 spelled the Fighter’s Doom or they could have won. Game impact of the spell was pretty significant for both sides, so I’d say 90 points is spot on after going 1-1. |

Re: The Spellbook of Flesh to Stone - Vote Final Editing
Yea
For wording, why is it "At the end of each round" instead of "At the end of the round"? |

Re: The Spellbook of Flesh to Stone - Vote Final Editing
Oh yeah, I realized this morning that in that second game I gave Luke, Danny, & Matt each 1W when I turned them to stone which was wrong. Only the squad figures should have received the W, those 3W's certainly would have impacted the game's outcome as each one of them fell sooner than they should have as a result. I'd guess the fighters might have won that game instead of losing, but then you never really know how the dice would have rolled. With one Fire Demon still hanging out in the SZ at the end of the game and the ability to spawn in one of 4 spaces on the board, they also could have kept coming back until they won.

Re: The Spellbook of Flesh to Stone - Public Playtesting
Yeah I discovered it was actually proposed for a different spell but the Art was changed. My template still had the art.
Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: The Spellbook of Flesh to Stone - Vote Final Editing
Yea seems balanced at 90.
C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
