Character Bio - “Jean Paul Valley stands in as Batman after Bruce Wayne is defeated and paralyzed at the hands of Bane. Against Bruce Wayne's orders, Valley fights and defeats Bane, wearing enhanced battle-armour he designed and built under the influence of the System. His performance as Batman is influenced by his Azrael conditioning; he grows increasingly violent, allowing the mass murderer Abattoir to fall to his death, thereby also allowing one of Abattoir's still-living hostages to die. Valley also has control problems with Tim Drake’s partnership, which climax when Valley almost strangles him to death and bans him from the Batcave. He seals off the Batcave from Wayne Manor and the Drake property, and eschews working with Commissioner Gordon and the Gotham police.

“Initially, Wayne is impressed enough with Valley's results to let him remain as Batman, but when Drake tells Wayne of Abattoir's death, he resolves to reclaim the Batman mantle. With his back repaired thanks to the sacrifice of Doctor Shondra Kinsolving, and his fighting instincts rehabilitated after lessons with Lady Shiva, Wayne goes after Valley to reclaim his identity. After a prolonged battle, stretching from a mobster's penthouse to Gotham Bridge before culminating in a final showdown in the Batcave, Valley is forced to remove his armour, subsequently departing Wayne Manor after acknowledging Bruce Wayne as the true Batman” (Wikipedia, 2013).

SYSTEM PSYCHOSIS
Before taking a turn with Batman, you must roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 6 or lower, Batman cannot move and must attack each adjacent figure exactly 1 time this turn with his normal attack, or, if there are no figures adjacent to Batman, his turn immediately ends.

SHURIKEN LAUNCHER SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 6. Attack 2 or 4.
Start the attack with 8 attack dice and choose a figure to attack. You may attack with 2 or 4 attack dice until all 8 attack dice have been rolled. Batman may target the same or different figures with each attack.

BAT-GRAPPLE 3
Instead of his normal move, Batman may move up to 3 spaces with Bat-Grapple. When moving with Bat-Grapple, Batman has the Flying special power, but may not move up or down more than 30 levels in a single grapple, and will not take any leaving engagement attacks.

Just wondering why you didn't reuse The System Suppression. Also not sure about Insane.

Does he qualify for insane?

The Shuriken Launcher has the potential of ending on an odd number... I'd prefer 2/4 for that, I think, maybe.

Well, he does regularly hallucinate the Spirit of St. Dumas. It's due mostly to his subconscious training growing up, but it didn't really manifest like that until he became Batman.

I could get on board with 2/4 for the Shuriken. Originally I had 1 as an option, but I ran the design past LP and he wasn't a fan of 8 attacks of 1.

I didn't have the System Suppression because he interacts slightly differently with the System at this point (he fully embraces it). Also, unlike when he was Azrael, he didn't really freak out and kill a bunch of people as Batman. He just used the System to be a more efficient Batman and then often succumbed to those hallucinations. So having him flip out and attack everyone around him doesn't feel ideal.

.... thooough, he did pretty much attack Robin and kick him out of the Cave while under the influence of The System, so I guess it could fit.

Edit: Reading The System Suppression again, though, giving him the class of Assassin as Batman wouldn't fit the bill at all.

I could see giving him a Determined personality, though, and riffing on The System Suppression like so:

THE SYSTEM
Start the game with a black System Marker. Before Order Markers are placed each round, you may place or remove the System Marker. While the System Marker is on this card, Batman has the Insane personality instead of Determined, and he adds 1 to his Move, Attack, and Defense numbers. Before taking a turn with Batman, if the System Marker is on this card, you must roll the 20-sided die. If you roll 1-6, Batman cannot move and must attack each adjacent figure exactly 1 time this turn.

I'd also have to tweak some stats, of course.

I like the suggested change to the system, & agree with Johnny the shuriken launcher should be 2/4. Good design though.

Cool. Sounds like we have a clear direction so far for post-breathing period. I was nervous about this one, so happy to see it congealing early!

OK, SP adjusted with 2/4 for the Shuriken Launcher and the new The System power. I also took the defensive boost out of The System to save on text, and to justify keeping his stats as is (he's more armored, so I wanted him to have more defense than Bruce, but I didn't want him going all the way up to 7 with The System, because it felt too high).

How's this look on text? Too much, or are we good?
