Re: TV: What Are You Watching?
Just finishing Season One of the fairly recent super popular Anime Re: Zero, which is an odd combination of Displacement To A Fantasy World and Groundhog Day! Enjoying it. A Second Season also exists. HBO Max has a Crunchy Roll hub, among half a dozen others.

Apparently there's an Invincible show coming out, I should probably start reading those comics.

Re: TV: What Are You Watching?
Watched the 3rd episode of WandaVision. Really enjoy this show. Very clever and fun. Interesting how things are coming together, as each episode reveals a little more.

Re: TV: What Are You Watching?
Just finished a third newer DVD set about The Silk Road, the ancient Asian trade route from Rome to China. On the new one, there is a tower statue on the Western border of China showing a Roman Legionary exchanging the hand over fist Kung Fu salutes with a Chinese soldier! (and therein lies a tale; see The Lost Legions of Crassus).
The Silk Road: An Ancient World of Adventure (NHK Japan/China/Central Park Media) 3 disks/ 10 1/2 hours. 1980 (DVDs 2000) Music by Kitaro. Also available on youtube. The Silk Road (Globe Trekker) 1 disk/2 hours 2013 Available from PBS. The Silk Road: The Complete Story (Questar) 2 disk/6+ hours 2017 Available from PBS or on Amazon Prime. |

Re: TV: What Are You Watching?
Long Strange Trip. Amazon Prime.
Documentary on the history of the Grateful Dead. Very cool and well done. The Dead were my first concert and they are my second favorite band after the Beastie Boys. I feel really fortunate I was able to see them live before Jerry died. You may want to check out Jerry's bluegrass album Old and In The Way, if you don't know it.

...And I still can't decide if I like or hate the Boys comic. It's soooooo gratuitous. And long winded too often. But the underlying plot is very good. I'd still like to check out the show sometime if I find time. But yeah would love to see a Dredd sequel. |

Re: TV: What Are You Watching?
I caught the first episode of Resident Alien and it was really entertaining. Alan Tudyk plays the part quite well and it's got a lot of funny lines. The overall concept doesn't look like it will be anything too ground breaking right now, but you never know where it will go. Basic premise is an Alien crash lands on Earth, gets forced into interacting with the locals, eventually learns humans are worth saving. I'll leave out all the charming little details for you to discover while watching it. Airs on Scy-fy, but then my DVR recorded a second airing 5(?) days later on USA. Then my friend said he watched it on Hulu. I missed the 2nd episode last night, but plan on catching up and staying with it.
