Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?

I worked on a strange double feature. During the day I watched Star Trek the Motion Picture. I was only able to get through a third of it due to time. Say what you want, but that is actually a pretty good Star Trek movie. It has most of the elements of the show, and the bigness of a movie.

We then started A Wrinkle in Time. That is captivating. It is probably better since I have not read the book.

Re: Movies: What did You Watch Last Night?

We watched Tron the other night with a few people who hadn't seen it yet, but had seen all the promotional stuff at Comic-Con this year for the sequel

I still love this movie, but it seemed like it fell a bit flat for everyone that hadn't seen it before.

I don't need no instructions to know how to rock.

Just watched the Bourne Supremacy(After seeing the first movie of course). I've loved both Supremacy and Identity, and can't wait to see the third movie!

Saw the expendables Sunday with my Dad. Bad story, great action sequences. Lots of explosions.

Book of Eli while on vacation. Meh, kind of silly premise IMO.

Sherlock Holmes a couple nights ago. Not bad, worth watching, even though you knew everything would be explained in the end.

It's been horror night at the Sheila house the past few nights. Watched Paranormal Activity, Cloverfield and Drag Me to Hell. Enjoyed them all.

Watched Casino Royale again last night. Not my favorite Bond movie (that's probably Goldfinger) but it's up there.

If you like that movie, then you never liked or respected the original three (granted, the 2nd one wasn't the best, but still).
I love and respect the original three and I still enjoyed KotCS for what it was. It wasn't great, but I liked it.
If they'd have left out the fridge bit, the cheesy Russian accents, the fact that the only puzzle solving Indy really does is sweeping the floor, and the CGI-jungle, I might've been able to enjoy it.
Don't forget the annoying forced marriage and "son". And aliens. ANd god yes, the cheesy horrible CGIin place of real sets. Lucas - you do not know how to use CGI, you are not Cameron. And when Spielburg wants to write a script - stay out of it.
And don't forget Mutt's Tarzan act.

Watched Watchmen the other night. Even my wife, who hasn't read the book and generally doesn't like superhero/comic book movies, really enjoyed it. I hadn't watched it since the theatrical release and was glad that it really held up (other than the casting for Veidt).
