Re: The Book of Demona - Initial Playtesting
That's exactly the point, though. Whether Nitro's dissipated or not doesn't really matter - they're both still in the area where they died/exploded. It makes sense for them to come back there.

Re: The Book of Demona - Initial Playtesting
I'm fine with it being a game not a simulation. I'm against formalizing a "put a marker on a space" mechanic type thing (or laying a figure down or whatever) but am fine with Nitro's wording as a precedent.
But if we want her to die and disappear and then swoop I to battle out of nowhere, that's fine. That's narratively justifiable. I'll defer to the LD here. JOHNNY139'S CLASSIC CUSTOM THREAD! | Visit now!

But since we don't have that mechanic I'm fine with doing the marker version if that's where you want to go. I have no issue with your logic. Would I want it to be everything I love...sure...but that's just not realistic so I'm going to focus on finding things that will make me unhappy and work on fixing those. |

Re: The Book of Demona - Initial Playtesting
Why can't we have that mechanic? Why can't we formalize putting a marker on a space?
The more unique mechanics we formalize, the more design freedom we have. |

Re: The Book of Demona - Initial Playtesting
Personally I'd rather see a formalized marker than a "figure-on-it's-side" mechanic, especially with a mod that I'm most likely going to proxy. If it doesn't lay properly it'd get messy.

Re: The Book of Demona - Initial Playtesting
Yeah - 'Demona lying on her side' feels kind of ideal, but it's an odd precedent, the figure might not lie properly and I think with the base, the wings, the pose etc. it's probably going to look a whole lot better in our mind's eye than it actually does on the board. The marker seems the way to go here.
I'm absolutely in favour of formalising placing a marker on the battlefield. It provides a lot more mechanical options and freedom and barring all that feels pretty arbitrary. I'd be okay with following Nitro's wording precedent here, personally, but I think that opening up the 'marker on the battlefield' concept has a chance to add a lot to the game going forward. (Plus it's borderline already a thing thanks to Mirror Master.) Am I good to carry on here with this change? |

With the Nitro change or with the formalizing a marker on the battlefield change? Not sure which you're asking about.

I've edited my above comment to more clearly state my feelings on the Nitro method vs. formal marker on the battlefield. |

Re: The Book of Demona - Initial Playtesting
I feel either Nitros wording or a formalized marker has no difference mechanically so moving forward with testing sound good to me.
