Repaint Threads. Painting, Bases, Figure questions.

Hey guys. If you have a thread showcasing your repaints or mods, I'm going to move them over to the Other Custimization Forum.

If you want to show off your repaints, please make your new thread over in that area. This forum is really for the discussion of actual units, and while it's nice to see the repaints, the other place is more suited for it.

Plus, you get to have 2 threads, one for your paint/mod work, and another for the cards that go with them.

Also, if you have a question concerning bases, figures used for customs, painting questions, the best place to ask them is in the other forum.

I'm not coming down on anyone or anything like that, I just want to streamline this forum a little bit more. Hope everyone understands.

I got some paint and I am going to attempt to paint other miniatures that do not belong to Heroscape.

I have not painted anything in years. We are talking more than 20 years, now.

After using the paint brushes how do I clean it? It is acrylic paint? Do I just put it under the tap water?

I have a custom card question. I know there are plenty of great custom card creators to find just by searching, but I was wondering what a good one is if I want these things:

- Printable
- Looks like the official cards
- has an option to give the card a certain colored background signifying what general they follow (like on the real cards)

Heres a Custom card I made using the GIMP program from here:

Follow the steps and your card should end up looking like this:

I have bought Heroscape bases on e-bay, but most of my customs are on bases I removed from duplicate ROTV figures.

If I were to buy some of the GF9 Econobases, and requested them to be 33mm would that be the proper size for mounting custom figures?

I've gotten into painting other figures and there is one thing I just haven't been able to find. One of the steps to a good paint job is inking in the recesses(I hope I spelt that right) of the model. Thing is, what exactly is inking? I don't know if it's like a thicker black wash you apply only to the deep spots or what.

Was this question ever answered? I'm looking to find a suitable substitute for HS bases, May I ask what you custom makers use?
