Notes:
Shang-Chi got hit hard out of the gate from a distance by Ms. Marvel. He was then killed by Valkyrie. Gamora and Nebula stepped up, put some wounds on Superman, Marvel, and Valkyrie, but were both then destroyed by Super Soldier and Marvel. Super Soldier and Ms. Marvel then kill Star-Lord.


Super Soldier with 3/5 wounds(2 life), Valkyrie with 3/7 wounds(4 life), and Ms. Marvel with 1/5 wounds(4 life).

Super Soldier's team was rolling pretty hot, and the Guardians were not, so luck did play a bit of a factor here.

Notes:
Spider-Man and Luke Cage were a thorn in Valkyrie's side, pulling her away and doubling up on her. Spidey is now being a pain to Ms. Marvel, as Cage finishes off Valkyrie. Iron Fist and Luke Cage gang up on Ms. Marvel as Super Soldier does his best to defend her once, but they are too much and kill her. Super Soldier waffles Tigra, but she comes back and kills him.


Tigra with 4/5 wounds(1 life), Iron Fist with 2/5 wounds(3 life), Spider-Man with 1/5 wounds(4 life), Luke Cage with 1/5 wounds(4 life), and Moon Knight unwoudned.

Ouchies. This one hurt quite a bit for Super-Soldier and friends. The enemy team just had their number at every turn. Spider-Man being able to pull people down helped.

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY:
Close to an equal win and loss. He's got a decent amount of power and survivability, but it's kept in check by his lower life. 320 feels within the ballpark.

Notes:
Cap and Rock move in for a frontal assault hitting Cyrax and Scorpion for a little damage. Cyrax puts in some work laying bombs and gets some good rolls blowing them up throughout the match. Cyrax takes out Rock and Cap with a few bombs and help from Scorpion. War Machine got a few hits in with his Rockets and Chain Gun. Super Soldier steals the show dropping Masahiro, Noob, and Elektra.

Winning Team: Super Soldier with 2 wounds and War Machine with 3 wounds

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Super Soldier is pretty fun to play with a good squad. He can definitely deal some big damage with good rolls. His lower life makes you think twice about getting him in the middle of a big brawl with no back up. I like the point cost where it is.

Battle Summary

The battle started out rough for the soldiers. General Ross designated Leo as the priority objective and the Hulkbuster soldiers were the first into the fray. Guile took 3 wounds in the second round and Captain America had to use Living Legend in the second round to avoid death, while several Hulkbuster Soldiers met an early demise. Super Soldier jumped into action after Cap used Into the Breach to move him and place an auto wound on Leonardo. Super Soldier destroyed Leo on the second turn of the third round, avenging Captain’s death the turn prior at the hands of Leo. He was aided by the Hulkbusters as they were able to remove an order marker from Leo on the first turn of that round. Mikey destroyed Guile in the fourth round, and once again, Super Soldier avenged another fallen comrade by destroying Mikey in the fifth round. Man of War is nasty, even for the turtles high defense. Super Soldier’s run in with Master Splinter took the heaviest toll on him as Splinter was able to wound him through his Breaking Balance. The question arose as to whether Super Soldier’s blanks counted as shields with regards to the application of Breaking Balance. It was played so that they would count. Super Soldier defeated Master Splinter in the sixth round. General Ross and Super Soldier made quick work of Donny in the seventh round by inflicting two wounds with air strike and then with Super Soldier rolling all skulls against Donny on the next turn. Super Soldier also defeated Casey Jones by rolling excess shields on defense against Casey’s Reckless Fighter. Super Soldier destroyed every figure on the opposing team.

Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes):
After 8 Rounds, the soldiers come out on top. Super Soldier with 4 life remaining, Thaddeus Ross all life remaining, and 1 Hulkbuster Soldier remaining.

Team B: Viper, Baron Von Strucker, Marrow, Talia Al Ghul, Gorgon, Crossbones – 1,180 points

Battle Summary

This team build meshed much better than the first one. Sgt. Rock was able to get the opening blow in during the second round when his pineapple grenade special attack put three wounds on Gorgon and one wound on Strucker. Super Soldier was constantly taking turns through Sgt. Rock’s Easy Company power and sticking close to him to provide him protection through Savior’s Shield. They focused on Strucker and some of the lower pointed figures and shied away from Gorgon, given his counter defense. Captain America, Guile, and The Comedian focused on Gorgon given the latter two’s ranged special attacks and Captain’s ability to put auto wounds on Gorgon with Into the Breach. Jack Flag really didn’t get much play in this one as it was hard to justify burning order markers on him, but finally was able to use his diversion power late in the game. The Comedian turned out to the be the MVP of the battle as he was responsible for destroying Viper and Gorgon. Crossbones was the toughest out and the last man standing for the Terrorists. Super Soldier only rolled for his heat vision special attack once, and got one skull. Man of War with Easy Company was a really nice combo and Super Soldier was able to swap with Rock through Savior’s Shield three times, allowing him to stay alive all the way into the 7th round.

Who won? List figures remaining in the winning army (include life remaining for heroes):
After 8 Rounds, the soldiers prevail once again. Super Soldier with all life remaining, Captain America with 4 life remaining, and Jack Flag with all life remaining. There was a lot of red, white, and blue left standing. America prevails over terrorism!

THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT'S COST, BALANCE, & DRAFTABILITY: Super Solder is Sgt. Rock’s best bud! They complement each other very well. I know I’ve had limited exposure with only two play throughs, but at 320, he slots in with Spawn and the OG Silver Surfer as figures I’m extremely happy with drafting at that point value. With a Sgt. Rock led soldier faction, he’s an auto draft. Although he didn’t have any issue surviving either one of these battles, I think the low life helps to keep his cost down and makes you think twice about sending him out by himself. He was rolling pretty hot both games and with hot rolls, he can definitely steam roll, especially with Rock giving him an extra attack die. Cost seems like it could go up 10, but not needed. I like 320.

GENERAL THOUGHTS ON THE TESTED UNIT: I really like him and look forward to modding this figure. I’m a fan of the growing soldier faction in general and am excited about running a soldier build with Super Soldier and Sgt. Rock again.

Is that 5-1 in public testing with all wins (on both sides) by pretty wide margins?

Looks like a significant point increase or more testing is in order.
A little disappointing that Arkham did not run a Soldier build.

The fact that he's won all but 2 games, any only lost 1 game with Soldiers definitely says a surprising amount about how far soldier synergy has come.

But yeah, definitely a points increase or more testing. Those are big wins for sure.

I'm not apposed to a point increase and opening back up a couple of playtest at maybe... 330. That or a drop in attack? What do you guys think?
