Poll: Most Popular Unannounced Characters (for 2022)

Hey, that's a pretty solid list! A few of those are actually in some stage of development right now. It's not a complete list, but here's the ones I noticed on a quick read-through of your list.
-Starjammers (Completed, awaiting release)
-Inhumans (Completed, awaiting release)
-Hobgoblin (In the playtesting phase now!)
-Spot (In the playtesting phase now!)
-Taskmaster (The next Public Design)
-Brother Voodoo (Already released!)
-Two-Gun Kid (Completed, awaiting release)

As to getting started in the design process, the place to go is the Public Design Workshop thread. Write up a design there, and it gets, well, workshopped by the community. Here is a points calculator. It's obviously not perfect, but it can help you get in a general ballpark that can always be hashed out later.

Once you have a design that you feel is ready to go, there are two main ways to actually start designing. The first is spending 15 playtesting points to start a design thread. You can earn playtesting points by completing playtests for the designs in the playtesting thread. The other way is to win the Public Design Poll, which is a little event we have every once in a while where people can nominate their favorite designs and vote on them, with the winner getting to run that design without having to pay the 15 point cost. I do believe you have to be a C3G "Ally" to get your designs nominated. Basically just run a few playtests and you'll be an Ally in no time.

If you ever want to ask questions or discuss something, I'm always open to PM. (or alternatively, you could ask someone who actually knows what they're doing) I'm basically a peon around here but I'm a very talkative one! We also have a Discord server which I've found is very useful for asking quick questions as well as just hanging out.

I've actually been tinkering with the New Warriors myself, and I'd love to talk them out with you anytime.

There is a point calculator floating around somewhere, but it's generally only used for an initial estimate (and only by some members - comparing to existing figures is also a valid way to get a starting estimate). Playtesting

Generally, public members get started by brainstorming ideas for cards in the Public Design Workshop (feel free to lay out your vision for a character in there!) and signing up for playtests in the Playtesting Sign-Up Thread.

You can get a more thorough explanation in the testing thread, but the gist of the system is that if you run playtests, you get opportunities to design. We tend to be pretty hungry for testers a lot of the time, so that's the system for incentivizing it.

We're a little prone to having an eclectic library because we're fueled by people chasing their personal passions, and not any sort of formalized structure where we're trying to close gaps. It results in weird gaps in coverage sometimes, but it mostly works. And hey, it leaves gaps for other people to step up and fill!

I love it! Cool to see another big Spider-Man guy.

You rattled off a lot of big gaps in the library there, but there are a few in there that we've actually designed but haven't released yet. Starjammers, most of the Inhuman Royal Family, and Venom (Flash Thompson) are all in that category.

Also cool to see another Avengers Academy fan!

Hobgoblin and Spot are actually both in public playtesting right now.

I'd be excited to see someone start tacking Serpent Society designs. I feel they are long overdue but don't know enough about them myself. Just seen them pop up here and their as a nice group of fun villains.

Star Trek isn't something that's currently part of the project, but if you had some good write ups and made a compelling case, you might be able to convince the Heroes to include it.

Super excited to hear that the Starjammers and Inhumans are both on their way!! Flash Thompson Venom has me excited as well! When folks say "awaiting release", what kind of timeline are we talking? Both of my brothers will be coming home to Ottawa (I'm Canadian) this June for the first time in years (one lives in BC and the other in Thailand). Neither have played Heroscape, but both have played lots of clix. They are both really excited to try playing and my younger brother loves Black Bolt!

I hear what you guys are saying about the interesting figure choices in the past. I actually think it's cool that the character selection is all over the place. One thing I love about Heroscape (and C3G in particular) is that even characters I would never think I'd enjoy playing, end up being a blast. Only you guys could make Puppet Master seem cool!

Yeah, Star Trek isn't a massive need for me... but I will admit that one of my favorite things about Heroscape is the ability to have inter-franchise battles. So part of me is always excited by the notion of adding in another new intellectual property to the shuffle. Especially if there are existing clix figures for them out there already. I felt that more supporting characters (like Scotty, Chekov, etc) might be pushing it, but Kirk, Spock and McCoy were the go-to field team and could be a lot of fun. Maybe a common squad of Starfleet Security (Red Shirts) too! Ezio from Assassin's Creed would be sweet too (and the clix mini exists).

I'm actually glad that a ton of my favorite characters haven't been made yet. I'm going to start working on the remaining New Mutants and Alpha Flight A.S.A.P.! I would LOVE to do Longshot too! I was also wondering... is there a list anywhere of all the existing personalities and classes?

Check out the sortable index. It has all of the currently recently units in a spread sheet and and they have columns for Species, Class, and personality. I'd also check out the Synergy archive as some of them have established interactions that are documented there.

Well, the length of time a design waits between being finished and being released varies a lot. Our April Fools release included a couple designs that had been finalized days before, and one that had been finished six and a half years prior. The six and a half year guy is a pretty big outlier, though.

Usually once something wraps, it won't wait more than like... a year and a half? (Super rough guess off the top of my head) And that's a number we've tried to shrink as we've changed up the way we plan releases over the last couple years.

If you look through the playtesting thread at the units in progress that you could sign up for, pretty much all those guys will find their way into a release by the end of 2020.

So without getting real into spoilers, the Inhumans have already waited a bit longer than average and are certainly due for a release soon.

Flash Thompson I feel comfortable talking about pretty openly because I lead that design. He's not gonna be released for a while yet, because I want to build up some more Venom stuff to release with him.

Heroes of Fiction just completed a Spock design.

I have been waiting for Alpha Flight for like forever. I thought Puck would generate interest but not so much.

Love to see Longshot!! That is one I have contemplated tackling myself.
