I think the payoff comes from how the figures and scenarios that bring it into play use it, rather than from the Plane itself.

For instance, I could see a "Multiverse Madness" scenario that lets you use it as a gate between multiple battlefields if a Telepath or figure with Magical Defense carries you there. But the win conditions could be other than "kill them all" for that one so that turtling wasn't an issue.
