Re: The Book of The Chief
It's not a huge deal. More of a consistency thing, I guess.
And, yeah, I've used Xavier's Unique Hero bonding from time to time. Pretty rarely, though. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.

Re: The Book of The Chief
Yeah I think the consistency thing is a valid point.
If we were to make a nerf to that power, would we want to; A) Give it a 10 space requirement exactly like Xavier? B) Cut the Unique Hero bonding? |

Re: The Book of The Chief
If we have to do one, I'd rather cut the Unique Hero bonding. I like him having unlimited range, since he's a schemey schemer guy.

Re: The Book of The Chief
I like the power as is, and honestly forgot that Professor X can activate any Hero, I would be interested in a limited range potentially if we feel that he is coming in too high.
Also can we update the title here to show what phase it is in? |

Re: The Book of The Chief
My question then would be thematic justification. Fury and Waller use communications tech and have unlimited command range... why is this guy different?

We could use markers.

Re: The Book of The Chief
Thematically, no range makes the most sense. He’s a fairly rich supergenius who can build robots, world-destroying doomsday machines, and temporarily turn himself into a Kryptonian, so there’s no way walkie-talkies are above his level.
But this is also a game where Ultron can only transfer his program to figures who are like 10 feet away, so I think it’s totally fine to bend the thematics a bit and limit the range if it helps the gameplay feel a bit more dynamic/balanced. Not sure what you mean about markers, Quozl. |

Re: The Book of The Chief
Like you get a number of markers and put them on Troubled Heroes then can only take turns (or manipulate) figures you control with markers on their cards.

Re: The Book of The Chief
I feel like that would either be so few markers that it severely limits the potential of a larger Doom Patrol army, or so many markers that it’s effectively meaningless.

Re: The Book of The Chief
I think I'd lean towards the 10 space restriction. Waller can maintain her influence without range restriction, but that's with her forces always risking turning on her. Fury can do it without range restriction, but he's more of an offensive figure, so I feel like there's more motivation to keep him in the fight.
I think for gameplay reasons it makes sense to want Chief to not be too too far out of the fight. It keeps things more dynamic, makes his defensive power matter more, portrays him as handi-capable , and makes him more strategically interesting on big maps. I think theme could easily be translated either way. With how the power is structured, though, Prof X. is easily the closest precedent, so I like aligning with that precedent on restrictions as well. C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
