Bilbo is my hero. A guy who doesn't even want to leave his house goes on a life altering adventure. Also, if Bilbo never found the ring, then all of those other hobbits would still be getting smashed at the local ale house.

Technically, according to Tolkien's own letters, it was divine providence stepping in and rewarding Frodo (and Bilbo, really) for his acts of mercy to Smeagol.

Frodo took the Ring as far as was possible for a mortal to do. And that's why he's my hero.

But because it just says "best hobbit" and it doesn't actually have all the Hobbits listed there I'm going to have to say Bandobras "Bullroarer" Took.

Oh I was just kidding. The sacrifice of Frodo's health, life and sanity to intentionally conquer over evil are truly on par with the stongest servant/leader literary themes.. as is his reward.
