Small Expansion 5: Reinforcements for the Battlefront

HoSS couldn't let today pass by without getting something new out to all the HoSS players out there. So for today we have put together a few reinforcements for every faction. BoSS (Battlefields of Star Wars Scape) is also pleased to announce a new way to play an old game with our Battlefront Game System rules and maps. This new format will challenge your old ideas of army building and give rise to some new tactics. Finally, we have a small card update to announce which affects one of our first cards ever released.


Reinforcements Arrive

Changes are coming to the galaxy's criminal underworld as a new power rises to the top of the Black Sun criminal organization. Prince Xizor is always scheming and is a master of deception. Through the use of these abilities, he is always ready to employ the right resource at the right time to ensure another victory over his enemies and competitors.





Meanwhile, the Rebel Alliance has managed to string together a number of successes. This has garnered new backers and has allowed the Alliance to acquire new weapon systems while developing the battle hardened troops needed to wield them. The Rebel Vanguard brings much needed firepower to the fight, putting the Empire's AT-ST drivers on notice.





While the rank and file Stormtroopers, Snowtroopers, and Death Star Troopers are extremely effective at suppressing the general populace, the troublesome Rebellion has given rise to folk heroes who refuse to be corralled by these troopers. In response, the Empire has begun to train the fearsome Heavy Stormtrooper. These specialized troops are more heavily armed and armored to deal directly with the so called 'heroes' of the Rebellion.





Additionally, a brilliant new commander has gained honor and respect among the leaders of the Empire. Grand Admiral Thrawn now haunts the dreams of freedom fighters far and wide, somehow seeming to know every move they are going to make before they even make it.

New Battlefront Game System Rules and Maps

Those of you who have played the original Battlefront and Battlefront II video games will understand where this idea came from. For those of you who did not, the premise is fairly straightforward. On a map there are a number of strategic locations. Taking control of these locations can greatly influence the outcome of any battle. To accomplish this objective, two armies send wave after wave of troops out to seize control of and then defend these locations in an effort to overwhelm and conquer their adversary. Find out more by taking a look at the rules below. Then build an army and give them a try on one of our four new maps. The maps are included in the rulebook download. Once you get the hang of how things play you can easily import the system to most maps you may have previously used or that you may create in the future.

HoSS Card Update Announcement

One of the really nice aspects of having a fan driven custom project, released online only and for free, is that it is easier to go back and 'fix' your perceived mistakes. After spending the last few years playing with our Chewbacca card we have seen a slow decline in its effectiveness as each new release is made. More and more uncommon and common hero designs have been developed since our HoSS Master Set was released and more are on their way. This has caused Chewbacca's Wookie Rage power to become less and less effective because it currently triggers only against squad figures. In an attempt to correct that lack of foresight, and bring his card back in line with his 120 point cost, we have made a small change to how Wookie Rage triggers. Now Chewbacca will be able to fly into a rage and pull the arm out of the socket of any adjacent figure he fails to wound instead of just squad figures. You can see the wording update below:

WOOKIEE RAGE (Original)
If Chewbacca attacks an adjacent Squad figure with a normal attack and fails to destroy it, he may attack one additional time. Chewbacca may not use Wookiee Rage to attack more than twice in a single turn.


WOOKIEE RAGE (New version)
If Chewbacca attacks an adjacent figure with a normal attack and fails to inflict 1 or more wounds, he may attack one additional time. Chewbacca may not use Wookiee Rage to attack more than twice in a single turn.

Thank you all for your continued support and patience with this project. We do apologize for the inconvenience created by having to print out a new card. We really take these card revisions very seriously. We hope to make up for it soon with our final Return of the Jedi themed release, the Battle of Endor. Most of these units are completed, just a few left to wrap up. As always play testing would be a huge help to our ability to finish up. If you have some time please ask us about play testing opportunities. We really appreciate and value getting feedback from outside our little bubble before cards get released as it makes for a stronger and better HoSS experience for everyone.

The Unreleased Figures List has been updated, removing the figures released yesterday and adding a few more that are in the works for Episodes VI and I.

Awesome expansion, I just ordered all of those figures yesterday, looking forward to getting them on the table.

Does anyone have a excel file type list of all of the HOSS figures/units?

I want to do an inventory, and rather than typing it all up myself if someone else has one they wouldn't mind sharing that would save me a ton of time.
