Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
Well met! Based on Bash and Slash, what I think @Dad_Scaper would say, and with @ThrasherDarkrai's and the Gang's permission, I'm modifying Hand Cannon as follows for February's game: HAND CANNON When Captain Xue attacks, roll the 20-sided die. On a roll of 15 or higher, add one automatic skull to whatever was rolled. If Captain Xue attacks an adjacent figure, add 3 to your roll. |

Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
Well met! In space, no one can hear you scream . . . Here in Winter, bound by weather and lack of coin, I ponder . . . not so weak and weary, but energized by a level of obsession with what is happening with Captain Xue, as opposed to what has happened with Ravenwolf. I feel bad about it because Captain Xue's sculpt is so cool. With an improved Hand Cannon, her combination of powers fits the sculpt. We know enough about how she plays to submit her as is, and see if there are any issues - normally. Now, thanks to Ravenwolf, I know what Captain Xue needs - a character power that makes her truly unique, over and above a cool combination of combat powers - that something that makes you excited to play her. That something that Ravenwolf now has, thanks to @Dad_Scaper. I can't help looking ahead to March and beyond, when Ravenwolf starts hitting the table. Maybe I'm crazy? Foolish question; I play Heroscape, don't I? But I think he is in line to become one of the most intriguing units in Heroscape, and I'm excited to be playing him in March. Is it only me? Even without Disgraced Warlord being feasible due to the 12 space army limitation, I think he'll be a blast to play. If he plays like I imagine, and there are no deal breakers for SoV (which I believe Dad_Scaper would have pointed out, if they existed), then it's on to the Pre-SoV Workshop! Onward to glory - I go! P.S.: Seeing as Renegade is releasing Pirates, we'll be looking at them for inspiration with respect to Captain Xue. P.P.S.: Thanks to @mac122: and, surprise: Last edited by kolakoski; February 6th, 2024 at 10:28 AM. |

Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
Well met! For the 21st, I figure this is the version of Captain Xue we'll use. Captain Xue's Consort, interesting as it is, is probably too strong in all its current forms. Still looking for the right combination of powers for this sculpt - or The Rogue faction is relatively weak. Boosting its ranged and adjacent attacks in the way laid out below does not help them unreasonably, IMHO. Based on where we ae now with the powers developed through Captain Xue and Ravenwolf, this might work: CAPTAIN XUE General: Vydar Human, Unique Hero, Rogue, Tricky, Medium 5 Life 5, Move 5, Range 7, Attack 3, Defense 3 DOUBLE ATTACK When Captain Xue attacks, she may attack one additional time. HAND CANNON When Captain Xue rolls attack dice, roll a 20-sided die. On a roll of 15 or higher, add one automatic skull to whatever is rolled. If Captain Xue attacks an adjacent figure, add 5 to your roll. ROGUE COMMANDER When a Rogue figure you control that is Captain Xue or within 6 clear sight spaces of Captain Xue rolls defense dice against a normal attack from an adjacent figure, roll a 20-sided die. On a roll of 15 or higher, add one automatic shield to whatever is rolled. When a Rogue figure you control that is within 6 clear sight spaces of Captain Xue rolls attack dice, roll a 20-sided die. On a roll of 15 or higher, add one automatic skull to whatever is rolled. If a Rogue figure you control that is within 6 clear sight spaces of Captain Xue attacks an adjacent figure, add 3 to your roll. 125 Points @chas, @Sherman Davies , @Taeblewalker , @ThrasherDarkrai , anyone else, thoughts? Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
Well met! This happened to Captain Xue's card: This is the text: CAPTAIN XUE General: Vydar Human, Unique Hero, Commander, Tricky, Medium 5 Life 5, Move 5, Range 7, Attack 3, Defense 3 DOUBLE ATTACK When Captain Xue attacks, she may attack one additional time. HAND CANNON When Captain Xue attacks, roll the 20-sided die. On a roll of 15 or higher, add one automatic skull to whatever was rolled. If Captain Xue attacks an adjacent figure, add 3 to your roll. CAPTAIN XUE'S COURAGE When a figure you control that is Captain Xue or within 6 clear sight spaces of Captain Xue rolls defense dice against a normal attack from an adjacent figure, roll a 20-sided die. On a roll of 15 or higher, add one automatic shield to whatever is rolled. 125 Points |

Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
Well met! Pretty much decided, barring any serious objections, to insert Ravenwolf for Captain Xue in February's game, for the reasons laid out above. P.S.: It's settled! Back and forth with chas and Thrasher, and I have received the necessary OKs to test Ravenwolf on the 21st. Last edited by kolakoski; February 9th, 2024 at 10:59 PM. |

Re: The New York City Gang Of Four
March Previews?
1. But will you get permission from yourself next month? How about Captain Xue vs Ravenwolf, or them teamed up in the same army as Pirate or Consort? Captain Xue, like Robert E. Howard's Belit of the Black Coast, could also use Conan the Barbarian as her consort... 2. If Renegade reveals some of the Official versions of AOA cards on March 1 (for preorder) we may be able to go nuts using them in our games before they come out. The Chas AOA Revival Project continues? Mwa Ha Ha! 3. Not to mention if we get Official rules for the Illusory Walls and Wellspring Water hexes... Oops, did I say that out loud? |

Player drafting order will be decided by a (twenty-sided) dice-off. If we have time for a second game, I'll likely make it so that everyone's first draft will be one of the pods that was not picked in the first game. Alternatively, I could have each player ban one pod that saw play in the first game. Either way, every pod will see play at least once. As a reminder, if you draft two pods that share the same Unique figure, you cannot use both! You have to sit the second copy out. The user formerly known as Bloody the Marro Stinger! |
